Years ago, a musician interviewed on TV claimed that he scratched the surface of the gold record he was awarded, only to find that it was another band's album, cheaply spray-painted gold.

I was always skeptical about this, thinking that maybe the guy was indulging in a playful leg-pull, but, no, when I asked a member of Simple Minds about his own gold discs, he said they do just spray any old vinyl disc.

So there you go, some useless trivia for y'all.
