Soulseek and spyware

I have a friend who thinks he is a world authority on file sharing and he said that Soulseek is riddled with spyware. Is he right? If so, is there a decent free downloadable anti-spyware thingummy?

Just downloaded AdAware just in case under LazCorp's advice (who does know everything about computers - well more than me)

I soulseek all the time, never had a problem. Be sensible with firewalls, av's and adaware and the world ain't that bad.
