hi guys!
my name's Tom, i've been a SOM fan as a highschooler, but as the years flew by i totally lost touch with the band's activities.
a week ago i was browsing thru my old vinyls, and the next thing i found myself hooked on Floodland as if it's 1987 all over again...
all i know about the band's current state is that
a. they're touring
b. they didn't release new stuff in years
c. Possibly libellous comment removed - markfiend
could you guys fill me in about the band's current state? is it true about andrew? is there a chance for some new material anytime soon?
thanx!

that's the first i've heard about Possibly libellous comment removed - markfiend which means it can't be common knowledge or you wouldn't be able to come on here for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.i doubt it's true -he certainly looks healthy as he's ever done;healthier even if you take into account he's not far off 50.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

They're touring, the album is still in drydock, nothing's wrong with Andrew to our knowledge - well except maybe the hair, depends on who you ask - and the best thing to do whilst we wait for the next gem from on high is to twiddle your thumbs, post to Heartland, and weed like a madman.
You're welcome.
You're welcome.
@ Samy - I would be very careful about making statements like your point c unless your facts are correct. That's how rumours start. This is a public forum and as such your statement can be read by anyone. That's anyone. Even those living on a galaxy far, far away. The lawyers amongst HL can advise but I'd suggest it's defamation of character and libel if untrue. And we all know a certain gentleman who not adverse to letting loose his legal army when he feels affronted.

Or mybe it's because Von looks like Michael Stipe nowadays, and the Possibly libellous comment removed - markfiend rumour is out there for quite a while nowHaza, who came from the poor Tel Aviv neighborhood of Hatikvah, at one time almost a slum, was a success story and the subject of pride on behalf of many Israelis of Yemenite origin. She died of AIDS in 2000, having contracted the disease from a blood transfusion in 1980.
"Okay, hippy scum, here it comes!"
It might be true, it's just that we haven't heard anything about it (or those who know have rightfully kept quiet). That said, we've heard nothing conclusive to the contrary. Irrespective of what's true and what isn't, that's an aspect of Mr E's personal life and I don't know many people who would want it openly speculated about, so let's not make wild guesses based on nothing. In fact, let's not guess at all.
Welcome anyhow.
(It feels weird saying that since I wasn't born until a year after Floodland came out)

I didn't take Samy's comment seriously. I thought he was joking about Possibly libellous comment removed - markfiend because of the baldness thing.
The legal types here would advise that it would if such a statement were proved to be libellous, it would be the owners of this forum that were placed in the aforementioned actionable position by publishing said libel within this forum.

just because a man is very thin and has gone bald.... he's 46 FFS! and he spent years dying his hair. no wonder he's shaved it off now. better than thinning badly
nope, its complete and utter nonsense.

What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
The man has always been skinny. Say smoking and strutting around on a stage the best part of his life does that. Only thing he has suffered from in the past is exhaustion and a couple of broken ribs. He should try some Dutch dairy products - that'll beef him up
