Bloody brilliant performance from Von and co. last Saturday I thought and IMHO was definitely the best of the three this year. A couple of firsts for this gig - opening with Flood II was great and totally unexpected and we witnessed the first head-gear seen onstage at a Sisters gig in years (Adam came on wearing a battered cowboy hat (!) - a subtle dig at all the goths stuck in a 1985 time-warp perhaps? Surely not!) 
I’d even go as far as saying it was better than any of the gigs I saw in 2000 or 2001. Christ, it even surpassed last years’ Munich gig which took some doing. The sound was near-perfect apart from a couple of weird drop-outs during Dominion.
No travel problems for me at all this time but the last one (St. Vith) was such a pain in the arse both to travel to and get back from that I had started to become disillusioned with the whole ordeal that is travelling overseas to see The Sisters. This gig has restored my faith somewhat, but the weather in Hildesheim really was f*cking awful for alot of the time. It was fine up until about 2pm on Saturday when the sky clouded over and an almighty downpour ensued and didn’t stop until during VNV Nation’s set. (Incidentally, the singer from the latter band said something like “If you are going to the other stage, enjoy Suicide Commando but if you’re staying here... enjoy the puppet show!")
My tent became flooded with water and destroyed my mobile phone so I decided to compromise my (usually) sound environmental principals and abandon the tent when I left the site on Monday morning.
Hi and cheers to all the fine people I met at the festival. You know who you are!
