how many albums do you own?

I was bored earlier whilst eating my staple diet of pepperoni pizza and found myself counting the amount of music I have, so I wondered how much everyone else has. This can either be -

Physically owned - (can include burnt copies, cds, vinyls, cassettes etc)
or
downloaded - separate!

Physically owned - about 350
Downloaded - 100ish (it will be more as soon as I buy a bigger HD!)

Fire away and impress us all! :notworthy:

Let me see, I think something 80/90'ish on cd, IIRC I have about 25 vinyls and some 350 on mp3 (however I ripped the majority of my cds)

At the moment busy getting more vinyls however, but sadly my wallet says no

I only own about 30

That said, my musical taste overlaps with my father's considerably, so that's not too much of a problem ;)

Maybe 300 CD's

And 200 LP's

Some singels.

And maybe 500 albums as MP3's.

Something like that.

I download albums to see if they're worth buying, and I buy albums I can't find anywhere on the web, have just been released, or are just amongst the best albums ever...
So if I'd have the money, I would most certainly buy as much of it as I could :D

I generally grab a couple of non-single tracks to see if I like a band's material from the era of that album and buy it (or avoid it) on the strength of that. It's not failed yet.

Except for Lacuna Coil

Nearly 3000 are bought ones, the rest are .... well y'know.
Very few LPs & 7" singles - sold them all years ago when I needed to be pissed.
around 500 tapes.

1343 vinyl (got em' in a spreadsheet 'cos I'm an anooooooooraaaaaak) ;D
Few hundred tapes, same wit' filthy evil digital C.D.s (only ONLY is it's not available on a real, needle based format, or it's gonna take a while to dig out the original)

I have no idea about how many MP3s I've got, 'cos they don't effing count ;D

About 600 or 700 cds and vinyl at about a 50/50 split for each format. I've got an Access DB of it at home with the exact numbers for each format but I'm currently not at home.

Over-countable downloaded albums.

400+ Sisters bootleg CDRs

About 4 feet of shelf-space of vinyl so I'd guess that's 400-500? 250ish bought CDs, about 100 minidisks (just say no to copyright theft :innocent: ) gods know how many tapes distributed in boxes in attic and/or basement, ~200 Sisters boot CDRs

Oh and according to iTunes, 5240 mp3s on my iPod (about 70% of which are on one or more of the aforementioned media)

oh dear :urff:
  • vinyl: couple of thousand, ish... (and maybe a couple of hundred 12"s and about 50 7"s)
  • cd: a thousand or so (and a couple of dozen cd singles)
  • downloaded: hard to say - maybe about a hundred, plus a few random tracks here and there :?:
  • ripped from own cd: couple of hundred i guess, not sure
all in all about 12ft of shelf space for the vinyl and christ knows how much for the cds, half of which are boxed in the cellar and come out on rotation with the rest because i dont have room for everything to be out at once, and it would just look silly :|

On CD or tape (since I started when I was about 10 and HMV was still divided in half between CDs and tapes) - about 500.

Downloaded - I only got on the Soulseek fun-bus about a month ago... but I now have about 40 albums from there...

Yet I always feel so behind on checking out things I mean to. There are so many bands I've yet to listen to, I have to keep a file of them to remember them all...

So, ask me in a couple of months and we'll probably be past the thousand mark. Or my computer will have broken, in which case I won't be able to tell you!

Edit - Oh and I have two pieces of Siouxsie vinyl... "Dear Prudence" and "Cities In Dust", got 'em at a record fair from a guy who knew Severin (apparently) when I was 15...

Probably about fifty albums, combining the two Bride mentioned... :(

Like the idea of geeking and keeping a spreadsheet - must do that.
