Why Doktor Avalanche?

I'm guessing that the first part came from the fact that it was a Doctor Rhythm machine. The second bit might have something to do with the same field of reference as Driven Like The Snow.
Failing that it's probably an obscure SF reference

i reckon you're right about the doktor bit. add a K to give it a hint of germania and away we go
avalanche is a song by laughing lenny cohen. its also quite a cool word, with connotations of power, rumbling, and the ability to make large mounds of earth move
i think eldritch and marx predicted the "fat goth chic" phenomena as far back as 1981

An avalanche is, aurally, a continual assault of crashes bangs and rumbles - I presumed that was the link.
The Doktor bit was explained by Motz.
