Many peeps remember this? 'Twas meant to come out years ago, and I'm certain it never did... However...
In the hours when I am not drinking, shouting, looking at tits on the net and taking care of my nose-hair, I hang around in a branch of a well-known book-shop chain, avoiding customers and hiding interesting things in the wrong section.
We have access to a database of all books still in print, or available from distributors, whilst piddling about on it today I found this entry:
"Sisters of Mercy" Discography: Heartland - The Illustrated collectors guide. By Andew James Rinnell (sic). International music publications, 31st October 1993, Published in the U.K. 244 pages, illustrations (some colour) Hardback. Retail price £9.95. ISBN: 1859090028.
Now, as it's a Sunday, the distribution centre wasn't staffed, but I'm going to get onto them tommorrow and see if this bugger actually exists. I'm 99.999999999999999999% sure that it never got printed, but the fact that it had an ISBN asigned to it, and a firm publication date must mean it got pretty close.
I'm presuming there were legal/being shouted at by a semi-retired rock-star on a crackly phone-line from the mainland type problems? I'm sure Robin has cleared this up before on Dominion.
If they did print any, perhaps listing it with the Authors name all-to-cock didn't help with the marketing!

yes, that one... I wanted one very much, but never found it.
Apparently, Pinnel finished it, found a publisher for it and that's where it stopped (at least that's the story I was told). Although there is an ISBN code, it was never released in it's ful version
Do try to order it! Who knows some got printed and have been in a dark backroom ever since... If you can get your hands on one, please take two

If the distibution co' claim to have a box, I'll stick some on order. To be honest though, I think it's about as likely to be lurking in a warehouse in Deptford as the true cross, Hitler's diaries and The Scream.
I'll have a go though.

That used copy for sale on Amazon for £60 might be real though, there were some proofs knocking about pre-publication I believe.

I got hold of a sneak preview/teaser pamphlet of this baby many years ago and it looked beautiful. But that was, unfortunately, the last I heard from Andrew.

Wasn't it pulled because of copyright issues?

I remember reading about this in an early issue of Underneath the Rock.
They (UTR) ran ads for this in a number of issues then it all went quiet.
At the same time i was in contact with Andrew and he'd used the money for publishing the Discography for the second reprint of the Heartland Biography. The first came out in October 1990 and the second in 1992.
At which point Andrew was also working for the Reptile House, but after some differences with Von he left, sold his Sisters collection and the discography project came to a halt.
The nearest to a full discography is that from a Germany called A Fragment, which features bootleg vinyl only. Very nicely done.
I didn't realise IMP (Independant Music Publishing) had got as far as test prints, let alone someone £60-00 for something on Amazon?!!
Out of all the Sisters projects this one is sorely missing. I've just recieved the Nephilim collectors guide and its awesome. Pity the Sisters never got the same.

I have a proof copy - its very nice, half a4 sizw, similar design to the Heartland books, full colour, but is only a few pages long, not really listing many of the boots at all!

As someone who works for a Publishers, I can say that once an ISBN has been assigned to a book, it's very easy to get it added to Amazon's database without it needing to exist.
However if anyone can get hold of the proofs of this item I'd be interested in seeing it (my copy of The Quality of Mercy Vol. 2 - A Collectors Guide to the Sisters of Mercy and the m*****n is far too tatty and dog-eared* these days...)
* and incomplete!

The distributors, the publishers and the warehouse people all shat on my hopes. The mail-order dept' at IMP hold out some hope, but I think they're just after my credit-card number...
In the event of a miracle, I'll get back to you...

I borrowed a copy of the Quality of Mercy recently but the standard is really poor. For a start at the Sisters discography you could do worse than
tracking down the first three issues of Heartland. They appear on eBay now and again. Issues one and two featured 7" bootleg singles and issue three started with bootleg vinyl LP's. This was to be continued
But issue four featured a James Ray biography instead and Sisters orientated fanzines.
Apart from Heartland there's only the German - 'Fragment' which I mentioned before which goes into any real depth and is accurate!
Years ago I mentioned compling something from my own lists on Dominion and although I had interest I could never summon the enthusiasm
I think there's over 350 boot CD's alone!

Got all the Heartlands somewhere (Attic?), I wasn't really a huge fan, but a boots book would be magic, and only pre-93 would be fine, s I'm only interested in vinyl (how do people get excited by C.D.s? I don't get it)...
Twas but a dream....

Also "One More Flood" (subtitled "A Fragment Is Done") was printed in 2002 and apparently contains the details (with corrections) from A Fragment plus some subsequent releases.

Yep, "One More Flood - A Fragment is Done" is the one I'm thinking of. A5 size and a limited edition of 60 copies as far as I recall.
Has anyone seen the Nephilim collectors guide?
If so what do you think?

It's in German - and I didn't know it was a limited edition.

Thinking about a Sisters Discography the last time I saw anything substantial put together was on the mixi.net/the-sisters-of-mercy
website. It was divided up into four parts, A, B, C, D; these being official releases, unofficial releases of official releases, live bootlegs and finally
mixed live and outtakes/demo's etc, (I think) as its been along time since I last looked at it!!
This was the closest you'll come to something Big been put together and it gave a rating for bootleg quality too.
