James Ray & The Longfolk CD

Anyone else had a listen to it yet?

It was the first thing I did, once I'd collapsed in a pile of unneccessary bags on my train norff. And I've got to say, despite being in the doubters' camp as far as the set on Sunday nite was concerned, I really like it.

Seems to be in the vein of Nick Cave or Swans, and fiddles make an appearance, as promised  . Last track's an instrumental, which is something I don't tend to enjoy much, but the first three songs are very good.

Good work, Mr. Ray! :notworthy: [/crawly bum-lick]

I thought I'd give it a special thread of its own, so that I can get extra Mr. Ray points...

Aye, it has saved my sanity in the first couple of days back to work.

Depends, doesn't it? I don't remember much of the gig, you see, so I'll give the tunes a listen to see for myself.

The CD thankfully sounds bugger-all like the gig. It's ace. If the Neph are spaghetti metal, I guess the Longfolk must be spaghetti-goth.

Did I mention mine was signed 'F.U.C.K. You'.  :notworthy: :innocent:

Yeah, thought so.

Mr. Ray said it would be available as an online order thingy in a couple of weeks in the previous thread...

Now, what does this cd sound like, does he actually sing on it :?:

The songs sound like the kind of stuff Mr No Name would hum to himself as he waited for the right moment to shoot at the gallow rope.

And that's a compliment, btw.

Indeed. If I hadn't already heard the CD myself, that would persuade me to listen to it!

Sounds a bit like a mellow Alabma 3 :urff: , It wasn't what I was expecting, but I really like it :D .
