Why do they have to ruin every decent film ever made by making stupid remakes all the time? Now it's The Wicker Man's turn

You need to see it CD! It must be available somewhere. If I had a DVD burner I'd do you a copy.

I don't know but I very much doubt they will get the atmosphere right so I don't hold out much for the music!

Just refuse to go and see it. Meanwhile, the interview with the original director is working on another film:
...that will revisit the theme of paganism in modern Scotland.
The story was originally called The Riding of the Laddie, is now called May Day, and follows two young American evangelists, who discover the Border ridings are more than just a quaint tourist attraction...
...He has 80% of the £3m budget in place for the film, with much of money ironically coming from Canada, and he hopes to shoot in Scotland and Texas in the spring.
Vanessa Redgrave and Sean Astin, from The Lord of the Rings, are committed to the film.

I have been hearing about this nicolas cage re-make for a few years now. it wont work i dont think, part of the wickers mans appeal is the atmosphere it creates, this will be far too....american
i love the original film, i even have the soundtrack!
Glad to hear this 'riding of the laddie' film is getting somewhere, i heard they may have christopher lee as a preacher, but that was a while ago, so it seems he isnt involved now.

I couldn't agree more, when will the film industry realise some things are best left alone.

When people stop going to see the crappy remakes, which I doubt will happen any time soon.

1998 Trunk Records version "taken from the original 86 minute music and effects tapes", and the 'proper' 2002 Silva Screen version from the original stereo masters. The Silva Screen one is the better version, you're not really missing out on anything if you don't have the Trunk Records release.
