It's not a streaming one right
Then you just can do right click-save, I guess... (assuming you're on Windows)
I had a geek question too BTW, but did not feel like starting a topic of my own
Anyone know how to change the standard size of MSIE? I'd like to have it starting maximised, but for some odd reason it opens idiotically small when I open eg. a link in a site which opens up a new page. The strangest thing being the 'standard size' changes every now and then

I just tried, it works. A few seconds only the clip, 1.62MB.

IE will open new windows in a window the same size as the last new window was when it was closed, unless the new window is opened with JavaScript code which specifies an exact size to open.
When a window opens, maximise it then close it. Future windows should then open in maximised windows (until some javascript window resets it).
However, if you change to Firefox you can change the settings to force any new window to open in a new (maximised) tab.
Plus you'll be using a far better browser.
Plus it's more secure, and will help prevent your computer getting infected with spyware and virii.
Plus you can add lots of cool extensions to customise the way it works.
Plus you can change the way it looks by installing new themes.
Plus you can start using RSS to keep track of your fave sites.

The last closed one is 99% of the times a maximized one, opened from Outlook (as a small one). Really odd.
I have Firefox on these computer somewhere. Have been a very keen Opera user for a long long time (and I spread the word for that) but I got tired of it being incompatible with loads of things and having to go to MSIE and back to Opera etc etc
So I'll only switch if I'm sure the compatibility is better, is it

Most sites work with Firefox. I don't think I've come across more than 1 or 2 that won't work. FF has approx 10% of the market share (up to 25% in Germany, I believe) so it can't be dismissed by developers - they have to develop compatible sites.
For those few badly designed ones that only work with IE, you can install the extension which opens pages in Firefox using the IE rendering engine.

I'm a big fan of Opera, but I got tired of the same thing. So I stick with FireFox.

Ah, well, I'll try Firefox for standard tomorrow for a change then
And I'm still more used to Opera's interface than MSIE's, so don't need all that fancy rendering stuff, I think

there's been a Firefox upgrade in the past few months, so make sure you upgrade to the latest version if it's an old version you have installed.

Alright, Firefoxing away right now, seems to go quite well
Oh, err, any handy tricks I should know of like in Opera? Eg. There you could close tabs through Crtl-Clicking on them (I believe) and open new ones through double clicking next to open ones. Would be nice if I knew about that sort of functions

double click next to a tab to open a new one
right click a tab for a quick menu

(includes cross reference to equivalent Opera and IE shortcuts)
fiefox keyboard shortcuts:

make sure you check out the
extensions to customise it further

Close all your browsers except one, maximise it, then while holding down the shift key, click the little x in the corner to close it. New browsers should then open at the new maximised size. I used to get that happening to me with some newspaper sites which liked to annoyingly open some windows in a stupid resized window. I'm using Opera now.

btw, use Firefox 1.0.7 not the BETA version 1.5. I thought I'd give this a go a while back and now I can't go back to Firefox 1.0.7 because 1.5 has screwed up my extensions and themes.
So at the moment I'm stuck with 1.5 which works fine but Natwest doesn't recognise it for Internet banking (but that works fine with 1.0.7) and also some Javascript windows don't resize properly when opening up pictures.

Strained Buttcheeks, er.... Strange Boutique. Monica Richards' old band. Nice band, excellent performances, cult following. They are sorely missed.
A blatant plug for the band is
here.
A photo (with me in the crowd
) from the stage is
here. Can anyone spot me?
If you want a Sister connection, Monica played at Mera Luna one year with AE and Co. also on the bill.
ADDED LATER: if anyone knows where to find some live recordings (other than what Monica offers at her site), please let me know.

Day two on Firefox now, and rather like it, no real problems surfaced yet
Thanks for the tip
Only one slight annoyance, and a rather stupid question probably
I browse HL through notification mails mostly, but 99% of the times when I click the links it takes me something like two posts higher, whereas it didn't do that when I browed through MSIE...
Normal thing to happen or are there 'solutions' for this

that happens occasionally - don't know of a fix

it's an intermittant bug with Safari too
