Jumping on Johnny's bandwagon here...

I drove my tractor to your haystack last night (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
I threw me pitchfork at your dog to keep quiet (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Now something's telling me that you'll confide in me (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Come on now darling, you've got something I need.

'Cos I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Come on now, let's get together in perfect harmony;
I've got twenty acres and you've got forty-three,
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.
(She made I laugh, ha-ha!)

I'll stick by you, I'll give you all that you need (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
We'll have twins and triplets, I'm a man built for speed (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
And you know I'll love you darling, so give me your hand (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
But the thing I want the most is all the acres of land.

'Cos I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Come on now, let's get together in perfect harmony;
I've got twenty acres and you've got forty-three,
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.
(Phwoar, she's a lovely bit of stuff and all.)

For seven long years I've been alone in this place (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Pigs sleep in the kitchen, it's a proper disgrace (ooh-aah ooh-aah),
Now if I cleaned it up, would you change your mind? (ooh-aah ooh-aah)
I'll give up drinking scrumpy and that lager and lime.

'Cos I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Come on now, let's get together in perfect harmony;
I've got twenty acres and you've got forty-three,
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.
(Who loves you baby?)

Weren't we a grand couple at that last Wurzel dance?
I wore brand new gaiters and me corduroy pants, ha-ha-haa!
In your new Sunday dress with your perfume smelling grand,
We had our photos took and us holding hands!

Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key,
Now that we mow past our hedges I think that you and me
Should stop this gallivanting, and will you marry me?
Now I've got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key.
(Arr, you're a fine-looking woman and I can't wait to get me hands on your land, a-ha-ha!)

Missing track on "Love". The Cult's Wurzel phase.

Discuss. :innocent:

doesn't quite roll of the tongue like the usual Astbury output does it!?!

but then there are a couple of songs that should be on the album but only managed to get B side status

Little Face
Her voice cut like a razor
A rose petal with summery eyes
You beautiful flame girl screamer
Seducer of the non-believers

Little Face they cut you down
They push your face into the ground
Little Face they cut you down
They push your face into the ground

Princess but no virgin
A butterfly burnt my a flame
She fluttered with her life
She stood outside till the winter came

Little Face they cut you down
They push your face into the ground
Little Face they cut you down
They push your face into the ground

Everyday they pull it tighter
The barbed wire wrapped around her heart
Yeah everyday they pull it tighter
The barbed wire wrapped around her heart

Her voice cut like a razor
A rose petal with summery eyes
Oh beautiful flame girl screamer
Sweet seducer of the non-believers

is just one example

The 'human condition'. You say that like it's a disease.

Sounds like Hayseed Dixie (or whatever they're called) have another potential cover on their hands. :notworthy:

You really are quite mad Claire. Fabulous with it (thank you again  ) but still a nutter.

I dread to think what other 'missing' songs will now begin to surface from the Love recording sessions ... :innocent:

You can rest assured they won't contain the words "oh", "yeah" and "baby". They had already used up their quota in the other songs on the album.

I borrowed a copy of Love with Little Face and Judith included. I think that must have been an original copy as the remastered one leaves those off. A shame as I liked both tracks.

Boudicca, admittedly this belongs in the best tradition of Johnny's cryptic threats - is this now about Motörheads guitarist Würzel or am I completely on the wrong track? :?

Yep, and it's vastly more disturbing than you thought. Honestly. :urff:

I'll let the author explain ...

Oi thanks ye koindly oi does, sor!

The Wurzels... these are them...!

Image

The West Country's finest cider-drinking rabble-rousers. :notworthy:
(West Country = the arse-end of England where everyone's uncle is their brother and so on... go west from London and you'll soon find yourself buying cream tea from bearded women sitting on haystacks. Maybe.)

I suppose you can't fully *ahem* appreciate their musical endeavours without knowing British accents... remember what you said the other day about people from Graz in Austria? The Wurzels' accent might be the equivalent.

Now that I think about it, when I have been on holiday in the Tirol I have seen Teutonic equivalents of the Wurzels - bedecked in lederhosen and on channel What-The-f**k-is-This really early in the morning... :innocent:

Harrr, oi was going to post that, oi was!

(A bottle of Scrumpy is winging it's way to you for that. "Trashed" mark II. ;D  )
