My results:

Advanced

You scored 92% Beginner, 78% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 66% Expert!

You have an extremely good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels' questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don't use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score.

Of course, I have the advantage that English is not my mother tongue... ;D

You scored 92% Beginner, 92% Intermediate, 86% Advanced, and 93% Expert!

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!
Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!

Mind you, I do use the english language every day in my workplace and am a qualified TEFL teacher..

(not that I've ever used that....)

Was shocked at first because I looked at the charts which said 68/47/20/19

But my real score was not too bad either ;D

Although I have a problem with these two questions:

So can the real good 'uns help me out:

SPOILER WARNING FOR THOSE WHO DID NOT TAKE THE TEST YET

17. If you __________ keep arguing, I am going __________ get a headache!

Correct answer according to the blog is TWO/TO.

But can't it be TOO/TO...erm...too?

And:

20. Only bring the __________ essentials on this trip.

Correct answer according to blog: BARE.

I said either BARE and BEAR.

Why can't I take some bear-ears and assorted testicles on my trip?

MORE SPOILING

I have been thinking on the 17 one for a while too, but in the end I thought it would be more logical if it's two of them arguing...

@the bear comments:     Guess that's just not what they meant

Oh, and by the way, that test crashed firefox :?

TOO = think of it as a plural to "TO", like "I've had TOO much wine to drink" or "my arse looks TOO big in this"...
TO = the obvious one of the three, "I am going TO party tonight!"....
TWO = the number...easy! :wink:
BARE and BEAR....let someone else explain....

I guess, Izzy knew that already. His question was more referring to a different sense of the whole sentence.

bare: your avatar
bear: Ed Rhombus avatar

Beginner
You scored 92% Beginner, 71% Intermediate, 73% Advanced, and 60% Expert!
This score does not reflect an inability to converse intelligibly, but it does, however, reflect your inability to determine the proper spelling and/or uses of many commonly confused words of the English language. There is no reason to feel bad though. They are commonly confused, so you're not the only one!

The sad thing is that I thought I would do well, that it was quite easy. Ah well, Im norwegian, I`ll blame it on that. :innocent: (I did get the questions you were discussing right though)

Bare with us here, GD ;)

And according to 'Jungle Book', there IS such a thing as 'Bear Necessities' ;)

and indeedly doodly, I know the differences between the two, to and too's of this world, but I guess you could also use the phrase:

" If you _TOO______ keep arguing, I am going __TO______ get a headache!"

"TOO" meaning "also" or "as well". Normally the stc. would be "If you keep arguing too", but when you want to stress the "TOO", I think you can phrase it as above...

I understand your logic, but I doubt a native speaker would actually use that sentence construction. It might not actually be wrong, but common usage would make it effectively wrong.

If you ALSO keep arguing is fine; I can't explain why you can't use 'too' in that sentence.

Now watch someone tell me I've got it all wrong. Then make me do the same test in Flemish
