 f**k OFF!

Toilets were pants and there was too much glowstick knobwand business going on... but a fantastic night nonetheless (although that may have been due to the company :D :notworthy:  ).

Sad. Nice they waited for ME to attend before shutting it down tho'... :innocent:

does that mean i never have to go there again? thank the lord!

the phono is an absolute dump. the only thing that stops me calling it a hovel is the fear of legal action from the hovel association of great britain for defaming the good name of hovels up and down the land. the place aspired to be a hovel. it's probably the only place in the world that was nicer when it was a public convenience.

That place goes and comes all the time. Of greater importance is what the fate of The Bassment will be. Anyone know? Iwon't miss the p1ss lakes from the Phono, but I would miss the groovy staircase to the bogs in TopCats.

That's a shame I really enjoyed myself there during Bloktober. It probably was a s**t hole but then most of the best clubs/gigs I've ever been to have been in s**t holes!

I still can't remember the apparant disgusting state of the toilets though

As ever Ricardo, you hit the nail on the head. :urff:

Gudby t' Phono, and all who sailed in her.

I was there for the last night/Sarah Orange's birthday party. The last song to be played was Floorshow.

I took lots of photos (which will be posted later), even some of the men's toilets (before and after trashing). I didn't want to venture in for the first set of photos so Danny braved it for me. I went in for the post-trashing photos and the smell that hit me as I went in was :urff: It was worse than when you drive past a sewage works.

I won't miss the actual place, just the socialising and nostalgic bit.

The Bassment should be staying open - the Phono had to close due to the Merrion Centre having total closure at night.

All the best places close - Norwich used to have a great alternative nightscene which sadly ended two years before I was really old enough to get into it properly :| . There was the Festival House (now an Irish bar  ), the Oval Rockhouse (now a family restaurant) and Zoom (now a trendy nightclub). All we have now is at the Waterfront once a month "(Chains on Velvet) but it's got so cy*er i can't stand it anymore

A few miles down the road (East Runton) is the Village Inn where Siouxsie and the Banshees and Black Sabbath played, and before that there was the Pavillion where Motorhead and The Damned played.

Yeah I've heard about the Jacquard from friends who went there to see Underneath What fairly regularly (!) but as you say... fifteen years ago I would have been 10
