Slept

Someone on a Belgian forum asks for the lyrics to this song.
'Slept' or 'I've slept with all the girls in Berlin' or whatever you want to call it.

IIRC there once was an attempt to transcribe the lyrics, but since the old Search Database Cleanup it seems lost in the Black Sorry Little Tunnel of Time... :?

Did someone have a rather good attempt at figuring out the lyrics out there?

Thanks in advance!

Ah, I thought it was Lucien, but already checked his pages, and nothing much there... :?

also seem to recall our tourettes-ridden, geordie friend "black horizon" made a few (wildly inaccurate) interpretations... :?

IIRC I had a crack at it too. But wherever it is, it's not on the Lyrics section :|

I'm sure I've read it somewhere, once...

Perhaps Dominion? There was a discussion about Slept on there this summer IIRC

Don't suppose anyone could upload an mp3 of Slept to Rapidshare or YouSendIt? It's just I've never heard it and it's really not worth weeding a disc for a single track (environmentally, economically or people's effort) :|

From the cached google thing just in case it vanishes; Dan's attempt and my attempt:
Dan wrote: Slept

stick your hand down
around and up again
in the air
i could wake up in this zoo
i've been used and abused, i've been chastened and bruised
i'm ashamed what i've been through
i've been naked on the news, i've been debased and disabused
so i can wake up in this zoo

So Turn Me Over
Turn Me In
I've slept with all the girls in Berlin

girls on smoke, girls on weed
girls on coke and girls on speed
girls who choke and girls that smile
girls who swallow in denial
girls win prizes can predict
colour of her eyes is white as ????
girls who ?????, girls on stalks
girls with ???? and girls on strings
girls on gin and girls on ?????????
girls ??????????? and girls on strings
and the girls who fight in new york
shaking in the air
girls from ????????? with ??????????
girls from ?????? and girls from friends
beauty cold and serene
with a burning aching jealousy

So Turn Me Over
Turn Me In
I've slept with all the girls in Berlin
I wrote:Oh shake me down again.
Oh fade me down again.
Oh shake me down again.
I can wake up in this zoo.
I've been used and abused, I've been chastened, I've been bruised,
I'm ashamed of what I've been through.
Naked on the news, debased and disabused,
I can wake up in this zoo.

Turn me over,
Turn me in,
I have slept with all the girls in Berlin.

Girls on smoke and girls on weed,
Girls and coke on girls on speed,
Girls who choke, girls that smile,
Girls who swallow in denial,
Girls in crisis over head,
Eyes, eyes as white as Egypt,
Girls who eat and girls who stripped,
Girls in bars and girls on tips,
Girls on journeys, girls on trips,
Girls on gurneys, girls on drips,
And a girl too far with pale blue lips,
So shake me down again.
Somebody hesitate,
Some girls like you (?face the pace
Already green,)
Shake me down again.

Turn me over,
Turn me in,
I have slept with all the girls in Berlin.

Transcribed from the Austria 06 boot:
Andrew apparently wrote: Oh shake me down again.

Oh shake me down again.
I can wake up in this zoo.
I've been used and abused
I've been chastened
I've been bruised,
I can take what I've been through.
I've been naked on the news,
I've been debased and disabused,
Just meet me downtown
When you're through

Turn me over, Turn me in,
I have slept with all the girls in Berlin.

Girls on smoke and girls on weed,
Girls and coke and girls on speed,
Girls who choke and girls who smile,
Girls who swallow in denial,
Girls in crisis [of the hips?]
[Girls with eyes as white] as Egypt,
Girls in cars and girls in [strips],
Girls in bars and girls in strips,
Girls on journeys, girls on trips,
Girls on gurneys, girls on drips,
And a girl too far with pale blue lips,
So shake me down again.
Girls like you [have poison tips]
Girls like you like pistol whips
And girls who knew the sailor's creed
With a third degree in jealousy

Turn me over,
Turn me in,
I have slept with all the girls in Berlin.
Parts in [brackets] should be taken with a pinch of salt, but other than that, I think I've got it.

I have been listening to this song round and round in as many different versions as I can find of it because I have been trying to record a version of it, as such I have listened to Eldritch mumbling 'girls who..' more times than I can remember. My thanks to all on this thread who have been very helpful. Tonight I have been watching Doc Sommers you tube teaser and the version from Paris and I think I have got the lines that have been bugging me.
the first verse in the post above is good as far as I can tell, but in the second verse there are a couple of lines that did not sit right, The line quoted above as "girls with eyes as white as egypt" and the bit about "girls who know the sailor's creed"
I think the latter line is either "girls can only sell us greed and a third degree in jealousy" or "girls willonly sell.."
This seems to make a bit more sense to me for some reason.
As for the other line the rhythm of the line seemed wrong and I think it is "pale Isis, white as Egypt" again this seeems to make a little more sense inasmuch as he ever does.
My head has gone funny from listening to this song so many times especially as the rest of the verse with the tips, strips, trips seem to change every different version that I hear. But I guess he just can't remember exactly and just says the first rhyme that comes into his head, I know I do when I lose my place on the lyric sheet.
Anybody agree with me?
Anyway I should turn my attention to the cat that is walking across the keyboard.
cheers all

Coming back to this after 3 years (eep!) it sounds like the confessions of an erudite curb-crawler. I like it (and so hadn't looked at it that way before. Dim)

This also came to mind earlier. Am I being really slow, or was it actually not this obvious?
