Or was he not as popular as other recently deceased Labour MPs amongst Heartlanders?[/i]

Don't assume that because we all play nicely - which is a given - we all share the same political/ideologically/religious beliefs.

Yes, I'll miss Tony and so will loads of people, but that discussion, that I'm involved in, is taking part on a Chelsea fans forum. We've always seen him as a Chelsea fan as opposed to anything else. :notworthy: :notworthy:

And he will be sadly missed. :(

he's one of the few MPs I had any respect for (one other died not too long ago, and there's just one left).

A sad day for sport and politics.

Tony was one of 2 Labour MPs I respected (the other being Tony Benn :notworthy: )

A man whose politics left me cold (I am a Home-Counties boy so he was always too left wing for me!) but whom I always admired as he spoke his mind and spoke it well. He always fought his corner and never wavered and what more can you ask from a politician.

We lose another nice guy.

And Bliar lives on....

There were two other Labour MPs that died recently, I heard on the Today In Parliament show on Radio 4 last night (yes, I actually listen to it...)

Who knows who they were?

(My condolences to Tony Banks, though sadly I had never even heard of him before I read the stuff in the Independent about him)

Funny isn't it; principles don't seem to matter in politics these day.

Banks had them. Sadly missed.

Indeed.

Maybe Lee we can hope that the cheap shots will stop for just a moment. Out of respect? He's wishing.

I managed to refrain from saying that one myself - only just. I remember Tony Banks once guesting on So They Think It's All Over. Lee Hurst, who stayed in his constituency, kept asking him what he was going to do about the state of his windows. Eventually Tony Banks threatened to brick his windows. :notworthy: :notworthy:

See, I deliberately held back from mentioning that, deleted various responses and held back on jokes due to the relatively polite reaction of most.

I should have just done it!
(excellent little article in new Classic Rock!!)
