no sign of secret warmup gigs then?

considering that they're using a new guitarist for the tour, they'd really need to play a warm up wouldn't they?

daytime practice sessions at the cockpit aside, jospehs well really does seem like von's fave doesnt it? i know they played there recently, but i cant think of anywhere else in leeds they might realistically use.

so, looking at the lineup of gigs announced so far for the well:

http://www.josephswell.co.uk/
JANUARY
11 - Mendeed + Sanctorum
16 - Stretch Armstrong + With Honour
18 - OK Go + The Bright Space + Envy and Other Sins
21 - Dios Malos - SHOW POSTPONED
28 - Bombed Out Records "New Year/New Start" all day fest

FEBRUARY
03 - Modern Life Is War
04 - Raise The Dead
05 - ThisGirl + Downfall + Lucida Console
06 - Fortune Drive
08 - Misconduct
12 - Two Gallants
15 - The Modern
i'd suggest that if we are to get a warmup gig, its either on a day as yet listed (eg: 7th, 9th or 10th feb?), or its one of these:

06 - Fortune Drive
08 - Misconduct

any later and they'd never get all their gear to vegas in time :?

so, anyone know anything about either of those bands? they have myspace sites? can we confirm they are real? and not another celebrity plane crash? neither sound especially von-esque names... :? ;D

note - this is pure guesswork, and not a hint!

Nope, Misconduct is a band from my home town. You should go see them, they're good.

Wednesday 8th at the Fenton - Shotgun Democracy. Sounds more hopeful? But there are 4 support bands, so maybe not.

so you expect the warm up events doing the same rounds as ever? maybe this time even this gig will happen somewher else - in moscow (red square), luxor (pyramids), london (houses of parlament).
personally i would prefer vienna (my living room).
we'll see

i just think that if its going to be anywhere i think it would be local, on home turf, and in front of a friendly audience...best place for a rehearsal innit! plus they only have to shift their gear once...

having said that, the speed kings gig was ireland wasn't it? :|

Were you scouting for venues last week?

Wouldn't it make financial sense to have a warm up gig in the states?.If the gear is hired they can check it is working. If they've shipped their own gear it could already be in a container and on it's way.

Drogheda Boxing Club, IIRC.

The bootleg had a blue-on-white "Doctor Jeep" image on, didn't it?

Yes, I'm a Sissies geek.

they did cork the night before to warm up :innocent:

york would still be a favourite for a secret gig (yes there is/was supposed to be) but leaving it very fine now :?

We will know within forty-eight hours of the gig, as is per normal.

I will attend, as I am lucky enough to live closer enough to the borders to make it reasonable to attend.

On a purely selfish note, I'm on holiday from 3-10 February so hope they don't play anywhere near Leeds

Indeed. But the inner circle lot who normally know about it weeks beforehand will only get 48 hours like the rest of us. Unless they're bluffing :von:
