Anyone else watching it? Caught my first one this evening, chasing after Nick Frost, who plays Henderson - he was in my favourite sitcom, Spaced.
Quite amusing, I thought. Found the jokes a little forced, at times, and the acting not astounding, but some classic moments; Henderson getting jabbed by the outrageously large hats of his alien hosts, for example.
However, I'd definitely argue with the critics who see it as a dodgy remake of Red Dwarf. There's massive and basic differences between the Grant Naylor stable and the productions of Mr. Cecil.
I'd invite all geeks again, but I fear we may have run over quota!
Red Dwarf Part 2?

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Yep, like Red Dwarf, but with better effects, worse actors and worse jokes.

Mmmm, OK, I cringed a great deal too. However, I do think it's got a lot of promise. There's this great niche open for some actual funny sci-fi and although it isn't an Emmy-Winner first time out of the bag, just showing support convinces the Execs that we do want quality programming of this type.
Give it a little longer, and they'll probably rotate writers and cast. If you don't like the show, at least give the idea a helping hand!

I wouldn't say he gives me the heebeejeebees, but I think the reason he plays the part so well, is that he's an even bigger wanker than Lister is.boudicca wrote:That Craig Charles or whatever his name is gives me the heebeejeebees...
