i can't help but wonder if there will be something missing from The Clash's and Joy Division's stage shows

Ian (i'm not Jim, i do my own thing) Astbury does a fair rendition of Doors songs in the covers band Riders On The Storm...but who would be in the same frame of mind to fill in for Ian Curtis

Joe Strummer is irreplaceable IMHO...but the Clash could play as a three peice with Mick Jones doing the vocals...would still go see them mainly cos Micks alwright!

That said, New Order now play a few JD songs at their concerts. They obviously not brilliant versions, but it does make me smile when they fit Love Will Tear Us Apart before Blue Monday.

To be honest I think you'll be suprised. I really like Rancid and Time Bomb, to me, reminds me of the early pub rock group the 101r's. Similarly the guy from the Transplants would do an OK job too

I'm a bit precious when it comes to new singers of established bands but thoroughly enjoyed myself at Hebden Bridge watching the Stranglers (a thing I swore I'd never do, and I'd had the change for a number of years, as Hugh is a god in my eyes...)

In this case it's slightly different as Mr Mellor is no more. It'd be a damn fine night I reckon...I mean, what a back catalogue!

By Mr Rancid are we talking Armstrong or Frederiksen?

I assume since you mention "the guy from the Transplants" separately, Mr Rancid would be Lars Frederiksen...

oh i remember the CTC album (for lack of a better term)...

Joe did realise his mistake and moved successfully on to the Mesceleros...there's even been nights when Mick and Paul have joined Joe on stage to crash through the odd Clash song

but all that aside...i'd still go see Mick Jones...just for the crack...

Well I do have a lot of time for Mick, he's about the same age as me and a Mott The Hoople fan (aside from him being that Mick Jones)!.
BAD's first 3 albums are killer, Megatop Phoenix less so. BAD II were really not my cup of tea. I saw them live too.
