Hi all,

Well, todays's the day, and Vegas appears to be the place.

For those of us who can't go, perhaps those lucky ticketholders might consider posting their thoughts on the gig here after it happens?

Local time it is 9 hours and 45 minutes until the doors open. Which means its probably close to 15 hours before TSOM hits the stage.

Although I am completely stoked about the show I am surprised that tickets have not been selling well. The Sisters and Vegas are great fit.

I will post a review after the show... pics will have to be handled by someone else as the House of Blues is just to the right of the Gestapo when it comes to cameras... (even cell phones).

On another note, I happen to be a craps dealer at Mandalay Bay and there was a particularly odd looking group hovering around the table yesterday. Could it be that the band has found its new passion? Forget philosophy... baby needs a new pair of shoes!!

That is surprising. What kind of numbers are we talking about?

Shame about the security, I hope we get some electronic evidence of the event.

Although I don't have exact figures the venue holds about 1500 and about half the tickets have been sold. This is as of yesterday. My info comes from a House of Blues employee.

Perhaps :von: might do a good word for the taping crew to the security :?:

If I remember correctly, the last time they played Vegas... (late 1999?).... the show didn't sell out as well.

Vegas Show... quick review

Ok all... I just returned home form the show. I must preface my comments with the fact that I have not seen The Sisters of Mercy perform live since late 1999. So it's been over six years since I've seen them. With that in mind, I may be more forgiving than someone who has seen them recently.

The show was not even close to sold out There was a good crowd minus a couple of jackoffs (there's a few at every show). I was three back at center stage behind rise89 and his lady friend. (note: rise89 taped the show on DAT although he mentioned that he may have f**ked it up... he promised to post it on Dominion).

Anyways... The Warlocks opened and did an admirable job considering opening for the Sisters is a tough gig. They were loud, cool and short... (about 1/2 hour).

After about a 1/2 hour intermission, the smoke machines reved up, the house lights dimmed and Eldritch sulked out with the band in tow. I didn't recognize the prelude music... mainly just some pulsing bass and drums.

The band took their positions and launched headlong into... Vision Thing!!! They were amped.... but sound problems marred the first few songs and reappeared a couple of times throughout the set.

I scored a setlist (which was lucky as I lost track) after the concert. I will scan and post it if the moderators ok with it.

Song by song in my next post.....

Still, questions remain, but I think the answers to them will surface during the day :-) ...

[1] Photos from the gig?
[2] Photos of the new shirt?
[3] Ben assuming Adam's place as the new lead guitarist? Or Chris?
[4] Did Von finally get rid of that beard? ;-)
[5] Significant sound changes, apart from that new "Alice"-Intro?
