Hi all

I was toying with the idea of publishing a one-page article about the Sisters in the monthly magazine of the French section of Amnesty. An interview would of course be the best.
Any idea...
- As to any reference made by Von in itws throughout the years regarding Amnesty ? I've found bits, but nothing substantial.
- As to the best way to get in touch with the boys ? Which means in fact email address.

Of course they may answer or not, be interested or not. In any case it won't take too much of my time and it could make for good reading. So I might as well ask.

Well ya know, that's precisely that link that gave me the idea for the article. But that's hardly enough material.

I'm not a real journalist, you see (I'm no journalist at all). I'm not good at just making things up.

Plus without any original input, I don't see the aforesaid magazine's editor in chief take my piece. We have to admit that not everybody worship the Sisters.

Ah, just throw in a couple of anti-French quotes or something, a couple of insults here and there, and you'll be off

C'mon ! It's been done before. I remember an "interview" in the French mag Best back in 92 (I guess). I doubt there simply was anything authentic in that piece. Just one of them.

"said" that French women were treacherous and French writers were plain bad. Therefore he hated the country and therefore he would never play France. You may argue there's some truth in it, but it's just so plain and uninteresting it simply can't be the man.

As I don't want to let this thread just fade away without giving it one last shot, here's a little story of mine that I hope will cheer you up.

The place is AI French section's HQ, about a year ago. I was attending a meeting of local reps. During a break I went to the loo. From the meeting room you have to go through the stockroom. I know it's not convenient, but whatever...

I then saw a whole stack of book covers that were in no way Amnesty material. They were fresh from the printer, not even folded yet. The books were music biographies from the French publisher "Le camion blanc" (the white truck) that were about to get reissued. The first one was about Joy Division, and the author was (as far as I remember) Ian Curtis' ex girl.

The second one was called "Napalm, amphétamines et miséricorde" (miséricorde is misery, the other two you can guess), and it's a nice bio of our beloved lil' band TSOM. I had read the book when it was first published in 1994. I found it interesting and quite thorough, with only little trace of goth b-s**t. I don't even think they were the author's fault. It rather was a publisher move.

I still have no idea as to why the covers had been stored there, or even by whom. Another AI guy from the same meeting used to be a Joy & TSOM fan, and he confirmed that Amnesty had nothing to do with these books and no connection with Le camion blanc. They just happened to be there.

I don't believe in sinchronicity, not the least. I just believe in funny coincidences.

i used to have that cover as my avatar -only for the picture of andrew with the words amphetamine and napalm underneath. is there an english translation or have i got to renew my (once great) french language skills? (which is never going to happen as i personally find the language awful).

I don't see the need for any translation, you non French readers out there already have the untoppable Gothic rock black book by Mick Mercer.

Really it's quite okay. Only I doubt any old timer will find anything new in it. You know I wasn't acquainted with that bizarre thing called the Internet yet and information was a bit harder to get hold of in those days, so the book came handy.

Well the author doesn't think high of Vision thing, which in my opinion is a pity. Apart from that, not too many fautes de goût.
