Holy Moly is a very funny web site, often close to the bone (gnawing on it at times). While I do not agree with the closing sentiments this is an amusing titbit:
The dangers of going 'off-brand' in rock.
This is from the Sisters Of Mercy's current touring contract.
"The promoter must NOT USE any of the following terms, or any local translation of them, or any word derived from any of them, and will use his best endeavours to avoid using any similar terms of abuse:
Doom, goth, death, dark.
This applies to the content of all advertising and promoter's announcements."
Presumably the following terms are fine to use:
Humdrum, dreary, past it, best years are behind them.
