Get on a plane to Venice. Might be a bit full of Nuns at that time of year, but it's the most wonderful place in the world. (Not that I've been many other places, cos Mrs T hates flying.) But even she says she'd get on a plane by herself to go back there.emilystrange wrote:Not intending to fly anywhere

Glasgow, city centre, plenty of shops.

Yeah we got shops, traffic lights, everything. Go somewhere else. You'll like it. More.

I love the place. Don't get me wrong. But it was a slow grower on me. Took a couple of years to fully appreciate. For a visit I would even recommend Edinburgh over this place, unless you are a shopping junkie, which I guess was your original point. Even then, stay in Edinburgh and get the train through for the day.Red Sunsets wrote:Yet more hyperbole from some Ad Agency.Red_Kola wrote:The New Black

Fell in love with the capital in the 70s, saw what it really was in the 80s. A love affair ended. That 'fashionable' end of Leith thing etc. Doesn't stop me from enjoying those Rebus novels tho.
This man, Ken Stott was born to play him. Read the books, he looks, sounds and behaves the way a man of Rebus' age and background would.
not this dick
Having said that, the TV versions are pretty damn good.

Yes. That's where we tend to take our holidays, cos Mrs T's not fond of flying. But you never know how much of it will be left, do you. The houses on the front @ Skipsea Sands seem to be getting perilously close to the edge...d00mw0lf wrote:whitby is nice. or bridlington. or scarborough. anywhere on the north yorkshire coast really.

Or Rome. Me and my GF went there over the easter 7 years ago.Thrash Harry wrote:Get on a plane to Venice. i didnt get engaged, but i did propose, on Dunnett Head. As far north in scotland as you can get. i was a bit surprised when he said yes.. he'd been saying no for 6 years by then..

It's not embarrising. I was in need of a love emoticon. Or a kiss emoticon. This was the closest I could findemilystrange wrote:why is that embarrasing, rian???

Mousehole, down near St Ives is really nice. We had our honeymoon down there. Little windy roads - nice pub, loads of stone circle and sites of interest. Strongly recommend it.

Wicklow is nice - but remember; if you're smoking its outside.
