White Christmas?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

EARLY WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER

EARLY WARNING of Heavy Snow

Issued by the Met Office at 08:30 on Thursday, 23 December 2004.

OVERALL RISK ASSESSMENT: The probability of disruption due to
severe weather conditions in part of the United Kingdom within the
next 90 hours is 80 percent.

REGIONAL RISK ASSESSMENT for the occurrence of severe weather
conditions between 12:00 on Friday 24 December 2004 and 03:00 on
Monday 27 December 2004.

NORTHERN SCOTLAND 60% Percent
EASTERN SCOTLAND 50% Percent
SOUTH WEST SCOTLAND 50% Percent
NORTHERN IRELAND 70% Percent
NORTH WEST ENGLAND 50% Percent
NORTH EAST ENGLAND 40% Percent
THE MIDLANDS 50% Percent
WALES 70% Percent
SOUTH WEST ENGLAND 50% Percent
CENTRAL SOUTHERN ENGLAND 30% Percent
SOUTH EAST ENGLAND 30% Percent
EAST ANGLIA and LINCOLNSHIRE 30% Percent

This warning is an update to that issued at 06:34 on Wednesday 22
December 2004.

The Met Office is still forecasting a much colder spell for
Christmas, in complete contrast to the mild weather being
experienced at present.

Bands of snow showers are forecast to develop in the northwest
tomorrow, Christmas Eve, and these will spread to many other
northern and western areas overnight and during Christmas Day,
becoming heavier and more prolonged as they do so. There is an
increasing risk of some snow showers in the east on Boxing Day as
winds come in from the North Sea. Southeastern areas may see rain
turning to snow on the highest hills late on Christmas Eve but
generally dry weather will follow with only a low risk of localised
snow showers.

Confidence in a cold spell for Christmas is now considered as high
but there are still doubts in the exact detail relating to the snow.
Marked localised variations in snowfall are expected, with locations
exposed to the north or northwest seeing several centimetres whilst
other more sheltered areas escape with little if any. The
percentages above therefore reflect potential disruption to travel.

For enquiries regarding this warning - please contact your regional Met
Office.

Yipeeeeeeee! ;D Hurrah, etc.

Oh no wait a minute, I've still got a metric fuckton of shopping to do, and I'm going to midnight mass (despite being a complete heathen) tomorrow night.

Hopefully it'll start just as I get back (and start wrapping at 3 o'clock in the morning). Come on!

We can do no more than hope. Lincoln gets about 2 inches of snow a year, let's hope it comes tomorrow.
