I'm not including the Twin Peaks 2-hour 'pilot' movie becasue it was never intended to actually BE a movie.
I'm not including any of his shorts, or that crazy 'Industrial Symphony Number One', since they are just too obscure for many people to have seen.
Wonder if anyone votes for Dune?

I love both The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive, especially because they differ so much, never've seen the others, except the Elephant Man, but that's ages ago, so I don't really know no more...
But Lynch, well, he's the best of the best anyway, isn't he

By the way, I'm still busy trying to understand Mulholland Drive, if anyone cares to explain, please go ahead...

straight story was cool in a cute kinda way, but i was torn between blue velvet and wild at heart.
"this here snakeskin jacket is a symbol of my individuality"
but i ended up plumping for blue velvet mainly for all the tres cool quotes in it. and the rendition of "in dreams"

I voted for Blue Velvet.
I havn't seen all of his films, I'm more of a cronenberg fan.
But the lynch films I have seen I really liked.
I've seen "Eraserhead" "Blue Velvet" "Twin Peaks season one" "Muholland Drive" and "Lost Highway"
I think lynch has cool hair

Loved them all (apart from The Straight Story, which was... too straight ).Mulholland and Lost Highway are my favourites...He is currently working on a new very top-secret movie in Poland - with some of Polish actors.
Wild at heart.
But they're all pretty good.

Eraserhead - first Lynch film I saw with then very recent boyfriend (now husband) so about 17/18 years ago, getting very drunk on very cheap vodka. Didn't understand what on earth was going on in the film - possibly partly to do with the rank vodka - but loved every second.
Have loved everything I've seen since - only not seen Straight Story

I never talk during music, at least during good music. If one hears bad music, it is one's duty to drown it in conversation.

The Elephant Man - watched it, when I was very young, fell in love with John Merrick, have a soft spot for unusual men ever since....

It's not a question of embarrassment but one of lacking words. But of course I try if you ask so nicely, and there surely are some people around here with lack of sleep who'll be grateful if I bore them to a coma...culprit wrote:Oh, go on, I won't tell...Eva wrote:I love all david Lynch films, but I've chosen Lost Highway. Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive both are films I've honestly never quite understood, but still I love them both and watch them again every now and then. I prefer Lost Highway, because it's even darker. And though I think I don't understand it, it "touches" me. It's one of those films where my subconcious or my soul or whatever you want to call it goes "Oh, yes, exactly!" and my mind doesn't have a clue.
Does that make any sense?

I've heard if you run cheap vodka through a water filter it makes it taste much better. Don't know if this true though. We have yet to try it because my housemate only buys the expensive blue label Smirnoff.Black Alice wrote: - possibly partly to do with the rank vodka

I've heard that too. But as you say, not tried it. We generally get Absolut.CellThree wrote:I've heard if you run cheap vodka through a water filter it makes it taste much better.
Keeping vodka in the freezer until it goes really syrupy also helps improve the flavour.

Someone defiately needs to try the filtering thing. I don't drink vodka generally, I'm usually pints and JD and coke type of man.
If it works then we've all been spending lots of money on the expensive stuff for years when we could just be drinking the cheap stuff!

I liked Dune a lot, too! Got me into reading the book actually.
On a side note: I'm sure you know that H.R. Giger (Alien) did a table and chairs for Dune that have never been used for the film. But if anybody of you should ever end up in Switzerland one day you should definitely consider a visit to the Giger museum in Gruyere. Been there three times, enjoyed it...
