Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

After having this arrive in my email for the fifth time I just felt I had to share. I am indebted to my 'friends' who sent it.

Priceless

Well the Times today apparently provides cast iron 'scientific' evidence that the ball didn't even BEGIN to reach the line, never mind cross it fully :urff: . But I'm not bitter, and wasn't that disappointed, oddly. Maybe trophies are like pickled onions. There's only so many a person can assimilate at one time without untoward things happening to you  . In fact, I want Liverpool to win the final, and I'm glad to see that AC let in 3 last night. Still, objectively speaking, they shouldn't be in Europe next season either way... *ducks*

Apparently UEFA has said it's the top four. So if Everton finish above Liverpool, tough $hit for Liverpool, even if they do win the Champions' League.

I agree. The winners of the World Cup don't qualify for the next one. EVERYONE knew the rules at the start of the season. I see NO reason why Everton should be kicked out, and that would probably start some kind of civil war anyway. And I see even less reason why they should change the rules now and kick a team from another country out - which they'd have to to let 5 from England in. There's just no sound argument. Unless you take the view that Scotland, for instance, has such a poor league that they should just tattoo the qualification onto Celtic, and evict that other Glasgow team. But I for one would not be prepared to make that recommendation.

Can't remember the last time the champions failed to qualify, but it's quite possible. Brazil are currently second in their group and looking comfortable, in case anyone is worried...

A fairly recent change.

The Times has cast iron evidence it didn't cross the line, The Independent reckons it did. I think the referee just bottled it really, it was easier to give the goal than give a penalty and send Cech off. Although it's an unsatisfactory way for it to all be settled I think justice has been done. And let's face it - Liverpool vs AC Milan, that's a proper final!

Regarding who gets in next year should the 'Pool win it I think our glorious FA will bottle it to a large extent. There is a precedent from a few years ago when Real Madrid got in as holders despite not finishing high enough, our FA will quote that.

Nah, it's no a bad league, it's just slagged off because it's on the "right side of the border" (though some attendances at other teams matches are very, very low) The last 3 games at Parkhead have been  , but if it means the "old firm" lose a few games at the expense of better opposition, then so be it :D .

Funniest footy pic since some wag inserted Muppets characters into the OT crowd after a certain Alan Smith scored for Leeds. Oh the irony of that pic.

i would. bit of a dodgy run spoiled our chances, but he's till got more passion and belief in his little finger than most managers have in their entire bodies... :notworthy:

hey ho.

still looking for that killer striker who can pop them in like there's no tomorrow. that ellington chap at wigan is very handy for example 8)

if you have a striker who can score 20 or so goals a season it covers a multitude of midfield sins....

@ QB - nah, you don't want Warnock. You need to give him back to poor Oldham pronto.

@ Loki - never forget though, as I've been pointing out for the last umpteen years, jealousy is the highest form of flattery.

World Cup: I believe this is the first time the holders haven't automatically qualified. The hosts still do.

Champs League: UEFA say how many teams each country can have, although how a country can have more than one 'champion' is a mystery of its own. They then defer responsibility to the individual FAs to select the teams involved. Presumably this means the FA could, in theory, select Bury, Wycombe, Rochdale and Tranmere to represent England in next year's competition. Which would be a fine thing

Championship: Warnock is one of my favourite managers, though I'm relieved he's nowhere near my team. But a 20-goal striker may not be the answer on his own. Sunderland don't have one, West Ham have two. Go figure.

Scotland: it is a poor league. Not because only two teams have a chance of winning anything but because the rest are so dismal. Typically the star players from the top Scottish clubs would make an impact in the English top flight. Now they struggle in the second tier, and it's not uncommon to see them scrabbling around the bottom league.
