What?
This is infact NOT the first time a character has appeared with the name Eldritch and some disturbing similarities. Any Spaced fans in the house?

Oh yes. I remember Dark Season quite well in fact. In '91 I was usually just getting out of bed when Children's Telly was starting.
The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

I'm a Spaced fan, I own the three disc DVD, I can't remember any Eldritch clones, though.timsinister wrote:This is infact NOT the first time a character has appeared with the name Eldritch and some disturbing similarities. Any Spaced fans in the house?

Well, I used to like it anyway. Where was the Eldritch character though?

As my phantom friend just mentioned, James Eldritch was a 'freelance vivisectionist' who kidnapped Colin the Dog and prompted a full commando raid to rescue him. He was seen in a kneelength black coat/cape/cowl and a fedora. And some rubbish modern shades.
Mark, you're quickly becoming the Oracle of Useless Knowledge, my man. Congratulations!

Oops. I'm sorry.
I vaguely remember it now... went right off it when the chick in it went all Bridget Jones on our asses.
Why am I talking like that?

Dark Season was quality - I still have the series on video somewhere.
Kids sci-fi written by Russell T Davies, the guy who brought back Doctor Who.
And yes, it featured a young, somewhat chubby, Kate Winslet.

Talking of which, can I just say:Dan wrote:Indeed. It was Dr Who in everything but name. And without The Doctor.smiscandlon wrote:Dark Season was quality
Daleks. Lots of them. Oh yes.

today's daily video teaser is due at midday.
I don't understand why the BBC have been showing a preview of next weeks episode right at the end of the episode, BEFORE THE END CREDITS.lazarus corporation wrote:today's daily video teaser is due at midday.
It fcuks up the suspense. If they must have a preview, have it AFTER the end credits (they did this with one episode but then went back to doing it before the credits again). Years ago they were very secretive of upcoming storylines, and it had more impact when you saw the episode. They're making a right bloody mess of it this time.

And deftly weaving the 'Eldritch clones' thread with the 'Doctor Who' discussion . . . Eric Roberts as the Master in the TV movie:
"I'm an evil supervillian and arch-nemesis of the Doctor. I'm not a bloody Goth!"
