....nearly $1400, or, in real money... £750 (which is 3 times the value of my car).
What a bargain, although it doesn't appear to include the insert, so its not actually complete.....

Just crazy
Nothing wrong with collecting, but this is just, err, slightly over the top IMHO

i have always been proud of my record collection -especially my sisters stuff- but the main enjoyment lies in having the product and the extras are, well, extra.
what i mean is -when i bought the body and soul 12" i was just happy to have another of the bands records.it was only mildly annoying that the WEA distributed singles had the original sleeves deleted after the intial pressings and so by the middle of '85 you had to put up with plain black " 12"single" sleeves...thank f**k you could still buy a bands back catalogue new on vinyl then ....when i got a copy of the original-sleeved 12" 2nd hand a couple of years later i was chuffed -but as much for the fact that it cost me £1.50 -they were changing hands for £10 at the time.
same with FALAA -i had the single sleeved lp from new in late '85 -when i got an exdisplay gatefold sleeve for 25p six months later they were fetching £15-20 quid!
and re. this box set -surely it can't be a genuine official release as body and soul was very much backed by the new distributors WEA and the previous 12"s were purely independent (maybe "braineaters" distributed if US) so why would they have an interest in extra marketing/packaging for stuff they weren't gonna make on?

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

glad to see i'm not the only one with more money than sense...and i've only got 50p to my name!
@ the-happening :in all seriousness, what you spend your dosh on is completely your affair -fair play to you. at least it's a collection you can treasure/pass-on and which should hold it's value (until we're all dead and buried at least.)
my dad used to collect clowns -some of the porcelain-headed pierrot cost him a small fortune. he had so many he ended up a filling a whole room with them (he was the only person who went in there as the little bastards gave everyone else the creeps). after he died, because noe of us wanted them we tried to value them with a view to flogging them and they turned out to be completely worthless

And presumably you can now sell the one that's seen better days without the inserts and recoup some of your investment.the-happening wrote:Still stand by the crock of crap statement I now have 2 boxes one which has seen better days but comes with all the inserts and one that is in much better condition but without the inserts- so guess what I am going to do!
That's not dropping hints by the way; I'd imagine that the crock of crap is still way beyond my price-range.

You wouldn´t believe what I bought my copy of the WEA box for ,
200 $
Found it in a second hand record fair, the guy who sold it didn´t have clue what he was selling.
He thought it was a bootleg box
He also had a copy of damage done, that one was more expensive, 400 $
