Jessie Foreigners language failures

Got any interesting thoughts on a set of lyrics? Any that don't involve the word "indeed"? Find yourself struggling to decipher all those obtuse references Von makes? Read "1959 And All That" and still no clearer? Nope, us neither. Postcards found lying in a skip around the back of the Chemists can be found here... Don't say you weren't warned.

confession time. :von: If you believe it or not, I found out today, that Eldritch doesnt sing "I feel the line, I feel the heat" (in Floorshow), but rather "I feel the light, I feel the heat."

and that was just one of many failures. Isn't it shameful to sing the wrong lyrics for what, 20 years or so?

(Amphetamine) Logic: "Nothing but the night to live for" instead of "knife". I guess that was pretty much what was on my mind back then. :innocent:

No time to cry: "(No No No) No time for headache" instead of heartache. Again, closer to my life than the original.

And my favourite: When you don't see me:
"oh, its different when you're there,
you can leash the beast in me"
instead of "you can lease the peace of mind" Ups. whats on a girls mind. :innocent:

Do you have any misconceptions of TSOM lyrics following you through the years?

'Lights': thought for quite some years I heard 'And the brand new darkness will arrive; we wait'.

'Dominion': heard this song for the first time years ago, on a tape without title or artist mentioned, and I really believed for years after that the lyrics were 'someday, someday, someday, dumb Indian'.

don't worry about it jess -i only just (and i mean in the last couple of weeks) found out that FALAA is "following lost and blind" rather than "following last in line" which i've been singing for 20 years. who gives a fuck?
as for amphetamine logic i would still argue that "nothing but the night to live for / one line -all i need" (which i sang for so long that even now it's difficult notr to) iis just as relevant as the actual lyrics. :von:
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

more Amphetamine ilLogic:
"nothing but the life to live for, one life all I need"
and "hit up, steel in hand" always came out to my ears as "hip hop mumble, mutter"

... and lest we forget...

Being pedantic, you missed an apostrophe in "Foreigner's". :innocent:

That one!

I'm sure there's other ones I get wrong, but can't think of any right now. But then my problem most often is I hear all words separately, but for some reason or another I don't seem to get them to make a sentence/sense  (though I have the same in Dutch far too often  )

well yes certainly, same thing happened to me:

instead of :
was ich kann und was ich könnte weiss ich garnicht mehr
I always prefered :
was ich kann und was ich könnte DU weisst ich kann nicht mehr

will stick to my version
 because it just makes more sense to me :innocent:

I always listened to CDs on the bus, and I occasionally misheard parts.
First time I heard Possession I wasn't paying attention and I heard:

"Possession.. 666! 666!" Which made sense to me, satanism and possession...

"My Heartland, on and on and.." repeated at the end of Heartland made sense, cause it did seem to go on and on.

When I heard Dominion for the first time (sitting together with a couple of friends) we all agreed that it said: "Maharadja, Maharadja bring down.."
There might be some connection to dumb Indians then..
( :notworthy:  :notworthy: )
Before I got the CD (wich was YEARS after the release `cause I didn`t have a player..) I only had an awfully bad copy of Ribbons on tape, and was sure they wanted to tie a red river. (to my geman mates: Lots of people in Krauteathausen mistake the dog-race named "Retriever" to be "red river" )
And it took me quite some time to find out that it wasn`t "pass the chrystal, spread the terror"..

If I can remember all my other misshearings, I´ll update..
Despite me trying hard to hide that I am Goofic every once in a while. :innocent:

 "spread the terror". Sounds convincing.

"25 horses in the room next door" just showed my maidenly innocence back then. :innocent:

The "25 horses" refers to a night Andrew spent at a Pub at cologne when he had to listen to "Da steht ein Pferd auf dem Flur" ("There is a horse standing in the hallway")by De Hoehner for 25 times in one go. They play it that often during the collective mental black-out called carnival. :von: :innocent: ;D

The first time I heard Dominion I thought 'in the betting of names on gold to rust' sounded like 'in the betting of names on gold giraffes'

And now think of the silly faces we made when we were trying to find out what the artist was trying to tell us..

Am I the only person who heard the roar of the bin machines on Lucretia? In my innocent youth I had visions of The Diminutive One staring out of a window in a Leeds bedsit in the early hours, unable to sleep on account of the speed, watching the binmen collect the garbage.
Hey, it made sense to me, ok..?

Once my Dad said one of the songs I was listening to sounded like the words were "I am a giraffe, I am a giraffe". To this day I've never been able to work out which song he heard. (It was pre-This Corrosion, so that narrows it down a bit).

This fine example of german popmusic is a song by Klaus & Klaus, also known for singing the national anthem of Ostfriesland "An der Nordseeküste".
"De Höhner" had something to do with a caravan, that goes on and on and on...

(Just like Doctor Jeep said...)

Das machte viele Leute sehr wütend und wurde allenthalben als Schritt in die falsche Richtung angesehen."

Another one I have every now and then:

"All God's children give good phone" in You could be the one (it's the first line) often seems like Chinese or something like it to me

This Corrosion, as heard in 1987 (age 13)...

Not "kissed and toll'd"

but "kiss my toe."

Oh, the shame.

I use to think the line I don’t see much evidence in the song Lucretia was I don’t see much innocence.

I still prefer it to the correct lyrics.
