that reminds me of story I heard about Michael Douglas.

He arrived at some posh resteraunt with his wife, only to be told that there were no tables available.

'But dont you know who I am' Micheal enquired of the waiter
'I'm Michael Douglas'

Some quick witted patron sat at a table near the entrance, who had overheard this conversation, could not resist the opportunity to emulate Micheals father and so jumped to his feet and shouted 'No - I'm Micheal Douglas'.....
followed in succession by the rest of his table.... and then by several other diners.

The story goes that he still didnt get a table, but did leave with a broad grin on his face.

And that reminds me of the story:

An elderly Hollywood star goes into a restaurant giving it the "don't you know who I am" carry-on. The Maitre-D calls back into the restaurant, "I have a gentleman here who doesn't know who he is, can anyone help?"

A guy I used to work for in the catering trade told me this one - apparently he was working in a restaurant in the early 80s, and an elderly couple came in flanked by 2 bodyguards. They asked for a table, and were told that it would be an hour.
One of the bodyguards said, "Don't you know who this is? This is former president Richard Nixon and the former first lady."
To which the maitre-d' replied, "Gosh - is that really former president Nixon? I am *so* sorry, I didn't realise. In that case the wait will be 3 hours."
"I won't go down in history, but I probably will go down on your sister."

My Grandfather once had the "don't you know who I am" act pulled on him by Tommy Cooper. Grandad's reply was "No. Why? Should I?"
