Sonic activation module

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Right this is really driving me bananas and has been for a while......

I bought a shiny new Dell about a year ago and it had a copy of Mcafee anti-virus on. I removed this after a while as it was a bit irritating and added another program for my anti-virus type things.

Since I uninstalled Mcafee I get a thing called "Sonic Activation Module" come up every time I boot up my PC. It asks me where I want to install it from but whatever you choose it won't do anything or go away. To get rid of it I have to keep pressing "cancel" while it is trying to install itself otherwise I can't shut my PC down as it says there are still active programs running.

This is getting really annoying now, can any of you peeps help me?

HiJackThis to the rescue again! ;D

Run this proggie, don't let it delete ANYTHING (yet), but it will produce a logfile. Post that logfile here or PM it to me.

When all else fails, ask Scotty

In case of Sonic Attack on your district, follow these rules.....
If you are making love, it is imperative to bring all bodies to orgasm simultaneously
Do not waste time blocking your ears
Do not waste time seeking a soundproof shelter
Try to get as far away from the sonic source as possible, but do not panic.....
Use your wheels, it is what they are for

Zero help to BoF, of course, but perfect all the same.

Her machine looks pretty healthy to me, actually... and this one seems from my research to come from a Creative webcam: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs ... ge.id=3414
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The Sonic thing is something to do with the CD Burning software that Dell installs.

There's a few things about it if you Google it

Yes, it's part of Sonic MyDVD, the CD/DVD burning software that Dell installs. It's quite a good piece of software, at least it does what it says on the box.

I think it's part of Roxio now, or the other way round...

Sonic is indeed the firm that supports you with rather good software for burning CDs/DVDs, were it not that they ALWAYS provide you with the free crap that only functions when you update it and PAY for it.

Now, if you are going to use the Sonic software, go to the site LIMUR pointed out, http://www.sonic.com and search for an update. Be ready to pay for it tho.

If you are not going to use Sonic software, and opt for a more stable solution like, for example, NERO 6, you can delete these two lines:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] "c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\isuspm.exe" -startup

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start

These are the two Sonic files that check your computer at startup and give these annoying messages.
