The way I've done it is, first put the record in a plastic bag, this is so the tape you're gonna use next doesn't damage it. Get 2 pieces of stout cardboard, a couple of inches bigger all round than the record itself (so that way, if the corners get bashed it won't damage the record cover). Sandwich the record between the 2 pieces of cardboard, securing the record-in-it's-plastic-bag against one piece of card so it stays in the centre. Before wrapping in the cardboard you can wrap in some newspaper for extra padding if you like.
