Especially the first one is nice, the fella writes the Sisters were the highlight of the weekend although it were his friends that wanted to see The Sisters in the first place: bunch of goffs . He really liked the wall of sound you could only love! And then he went backstage and got a poster signed and one of the axe-men did something with the Madness-setlist the boy was carrying. It seems he had a top nite out

We're cute and funny and clever (well, *some* of us are, anyway... ) over here, and we don't allow l00ns and trolls to run roughshod over our community. Just want to say thanks to all those that have posted stunning photo's! and for the YouTube clicky's! and of course reviews from you and beyond!

Reading through this thread I'm sure I said hello to most of you in person, I've made a list of the usernames that I know for sure I'd met. To those of you that I did say a hello to but didn't get your username it was such a pleasure meeting you all!

I've counted over 20 so far so as I know you are all from this forum it just shows how large HL is! And such a cozy place indeed!

Am I the only one who thinks how fabulously 0ldsk00l this new song is? I noticed this on the first time I've heard it. A simple, groovy rhythm and no-nonsense lead guitar? Can't decipher much of the lyrics but well. what I get so far is this could become a real keeper (I presume it's some kind of beta-version yet).

It's 4:00 AM as I am writing this, so I can't really give my full comment on this, I'll do that tomorrow morning. But I can say that I've learned a few things during my first concert ánd first Sisters gig ever;
1-the Sisters are invisible

Goddamn We are not worthy!
Was absolutely dead after yesterday's gig. So much energy, wow We are not worthy! Hardly saw anything of the gig, but my personal highlight must've been On the Wire (obviously), though everything absolutely rocked! Quite possibly one of the favourites amongst the gigs I attended We are not worthy! I'll get back to you guys with a better review later on when I've got more inspiration, but you can catch the theme from this one already I suppose.
RE the invisibility: The smoke machines were running overtime indeed, saw nothing during the first couple of songs but the mike stands Laughing We are not worthy! Just as I like it, as the matter of fact Mr. Green
Oh, and I got a plectrum, which just landed on my arms as I was trying to catch some breath when the gig was about over Laughing I didn't mind We are not worthy!
Was naturally amazing as always to meet everyone, talk to new persons, talk more to persons I already knew a while, saying hello to as much people as possible, everyone was just stunning We are not worthy! Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did, and hope I didn't miss anyone Laughing

Was indeed a great show, although I thought it to be rather short.

A Short report from the right - as opposite of left - side of the stage.
Ribbons
After the intro, a loud and clear beat of the Dok. 'Welcome to the hospital', Eldritch said. Dok gave no s**t but pumping iron and steam, as it should. Started off with Ribbons, where things got technically wrong with the mic or so; Eldo lost his way, but you already noticed that his willing was powerful. His voice was crispy fine after he changed the mic - or something else.
First and Last and Always
The whole audience got excited and so did the Girls. Eldritch danced like the speed-fed patient he can be now and then - to be seen in certain videos.
Crash and Burn
A Crash and Burn indeed, great to see the crowd go nuts on a song that never been published officially; it's a sign that people don't take the Sisters as 'that ancient 3-album band'. In fact, all that post-Vision Thing material is part of some 'never made' fourth album.
Flood I
Great light, great Eldo can smoke. His moves were fine, his lyrics got lost, but who cares if Von is howling, grinding and whispering in a PA-set that can bring it like crispy snow? Great!
(First half of) Dr. Jeep
(Second half of) Detonation Boulevard
Could've been better, but since this medley can't be rewarded with prizes at all, a fine moment to lit a cig or wipe the sweat from your face.
Still
Von likes the people, and he likes his own party.
Giving Ground
One of the best editions ever heard. The intermezzo has a piano sound, as discussed somewhere else. The intensity could've been ripped from Exxile on Euphoria, Visions at the Forum or any other hot boot - you don't own, of course.
We Are the Same, Suzanne
People who don't know this song think it's the intro to Lucretia.
Dominion
This brings a smile in the smoke, i swear. Also Chris was smiling when all these hands were raising and all these mouths were shouting DOMINION. Global warming? Live Earth? The Sisters did their part by not bringing a sax, you know.
Summer
A Summer celebrated in deep green. The show is now proved as a right dissolving flavor of light, smoke and sound. Although i still miss that feeling of a sound that absorbs you even more (now and then that karaoke feeling of a Dok and two guitars is too much), it's a nice trip.

What lyric sheet? Just repeat 'Like the sea' and 'Flood' some more.
This Corrosion
Why sing the right lyrics? The head is full of chemics, innit Eldo? The 'In times like these...' phrase forgotton - oops. Celebration of chrome!

If Sisters was Abba, this was Dancing Queen. A great semi-end, vocals close to the record. Von did even say something like 'you are a good audience' or so. (or earlier in the set, i don't recall it exactly). Thank God it's rock n roll, so-

It was my second Sisters show ( the first one was La riviera , madrid 2006) and Zottegems was 100000 better.
The Sound was very good and also the performance, and what to say about the audience?? was full of people of this forum, that i met, and was great

Ah, here I am again. Awake after sleeping from 4:00 'till 11:00 Mr. Green
I got myself some footage with my camera including a full length clip of Top Nite Out and some fragments of Giving Ground, Dominion and Suzanne. And some utterly ruined pics.
Me and my dad arrived at the site at 16:10, my friend being forced out of the plan because his parents wanted to go on vacation fast. It was a sunny and nice day, perfect for the gig. As the day progressed I found MadameButterfly, Never Land, Radiojamaica, Ozpat, Obviousman, Arf and more Heartlanders sitting in a group, which I joined soon afterwards. We talked quite a bit and sometimes went to check the other bands. They were not very good (except Freebee, he got my respect), mostly a lot of unneccesary noise.
It became late and more people arrived at the rather small festival site. I think about 40% had come solely for the Sisters, I liked that.
This being my first Sisters gig ever, I really can't comment properly on their performance. I can say that there was a lot of energy indeed, the crowd really knew the lyrics of all pre-'93 songs, which surprised me a bit, and the crowd really liked the Sisters. Best part was when the tension ran high at "empire down.... empire down.." and then an enormous blast-off with "I HEAR THE SONS OF THE CITY AND DISPOSSESSED!!! GET DOWN!! GET UNDRESSED!!!!" the crowd went totally mad.
This was my first Sisters gig so my first impression was that the songs sounded more bland than the CD/LP versions, they were less characteristically that certain song. The sounds were just guitars and drums, but the melody of each song wasn't as clear as I had hoped them to be. I sometimes even failed to recognize which song they were playing until plusminus 15 seconds had passed...
There were huge amounts of smoke and flashing light (the Sisters were invisible, as said before), which I had predicted but not that they would use the two together... I managed to get myself in front of the stage about 5 rows from the stage, which turned out to be the perfect spot since I would have been squashed by moving people in the rows closer to the stage (as I'm sure RadioJamaica can tell you, he was there Razz)
After Admiral Freebee, who was rather good I'm inclined to say, the crowd had to wait about 20 minutes of agony watching the stage being trandformed to fit the Sisters' needs. Us just standing there and my back aching more and more as the time passed from standing upright all the time.
Then the sisters came on stage, in a huge cloud of smoke (I first expected them to sneak unstage hidden by the smoke and start playing whilst invisible to surprise us, but we managed to spot them nevertheless) Ribbons was a clear opener, the song being widely recognized. I somehow had anticipated them to use Ribbons as an opener (I somehow recall seeing a previous playlist that matched this one? Correct me if I'm wrong).
Then , First and Last and Always. I was hugely mistaken because of the initial beats, which made me think it was Alice. Until the crowd started singing "First and Last and Always..." Embarassed I really didn't recognize it.
C&B and Flood I on the other hand were rather recognizable and got the crowd a bit looser.
Dr Jeep strangely turned into Deto Boulevard midway past which surprised me but seemed to fit well anyway. Crowd screaming "BANG BANG".
After Still, Giving Ground brought a good thrill to the crowd, nobody knew it (Laughing) but they liked it anyway and the characteristic synth riff of the song had been transformed into a guitar riff, which the crowd liked. Lots of red light.
Suzanne was well known and brought back calmth among the crowd, pink light again.
Dominion was very well recognized and sung along by the crowd, a rather enjoyable live version of it was played.
Summer had a very interesting trick with the lyrics Razz The lights really did change into blue when Andy said "another shade of blue" and into yellow at "another shade of yellow" then into orange and red mimicing a sunset at "sunset yellow". Nice trick.
Then, On the Wire! The crowd went nuts, very good live version of it, and fun to hear this pre-FALAA song played live. Midway through Andy started singing "some girls wander by mistake into the mess that scalpels make, are you the teachers of my heart we teach old hearts to break" but he finished On the Wire shortly afterwards.
ALICE!!! Best recognized by the crowd, everybody sang along, crowd really liked it, good live song.
Anaconda! Never expected that such an old song could become such a stonking rock track, the Sisters went mad on this one and blew the crowd away. The roughest track of the gig I'd say.
Flood II; the crowd had no idea what to sing along(haha, losers Razz) but that wasn't really a problem as Andy just repeated "She says.. anytime, raise your arms...Flood!" over and over...
This Corrosion; didn't recognize it at first (I thought I heard Under the Gun somewhere in between of the songs, don't remember when) because the typical melody wasn't played; they played it as a rock song. Crowd: "Hey now hey now now, sing this corrosion to me,.."
Lucretia was the second best one of the night I'd say. Really got the crowd connected to Andy and the crowd and Andy seemed to know how to work together; silence during "Lucretia, my reflection, dance the ghost with me..." and screaming during "WE GOT THE EMPIRE" and "I HEAR THE SONS OF THE CITY" . Very well played.
Then the Sisters left. Crowd disgruntled, whistling and screaming for more. Most of us knew they were going to come back anyway, but I kept think by myself "please do Top Nite Out please do Top Nite Out please do Top Nite Out please do Top Nite Out please do Top Nite Out !!!" and my plea was heard as Chris and Ben stormed back on stage to give us the one and only op Nite Out! Very Happy Of course this was the best song of the night- best live song I've ever heard. Crowd went insane.
The quality of the songs increased greatly after the Sisters had come back onstage, with Temple of Love and Vision Thing sounded just perfect and exactly what the crowd wanted. When they finally left after a long Vision Thing with a lot of Shalala, the crowd was satisfied and most knew that if was over and were happy with it.

Ooh what a night... and to embrace our dearest couple Libby & Joery during the encores was really the icing on the cake. This is it: the good life!
They didn't go techno, they didn't go back in black, but they rocked like a mofo on speed and what else to add than this: lay me down that long white line... and then it's done!

And that green stuff... well, I should have left it in Debs' hands. Don't know what I was thinking when I asked it back, because she would have taken much better care of it. After the gig we sooo wanted to light one up (and there was only enough left for one J), so yeah, that was a bit of a bummer Laughing
On the other hand, by that time there was little blood left in my beerstream and a good drag of that J might have caused some serious 'spinning', if you know what I mean It wasn't me...

Andrew is still like a god on stage , his voice very powerful , his looks still fantastic !
Ben & chris are great guitarists and it's clear to see that they love playing in this band .
( We've met Ben and spoke with him for a short while , he's such a very nice guy ! )

The band wasn't invisible to me (o.k. , there was lots of smoke , but I think that's fun ) I was second row from the front on the left side ,
having a hard time sometimes because the crowd went absolutely mad , almost during the whole show , but I was able to see it all really well .
Also very nice to meet a lot of you heartlanders out there !!
And of course we were very lucky with the weather .

Where to start?
You people probably want to know how the gig went, I think most of that is been said by people who clearly have more knowledge about music than I do. Yes I only enjoy listening to it, me don’t care if they play the wrong note or use the wrong amplifiers, me was there to see a band that I really like perform and party with them, and that folks, That I did.

No I want tell you about my day, the atmosphere during the afternoon and evening ware the most friendly I can imagine, all the people who I met ware brilliant, I’m not going to name names in fear of forgetting someone. But it was one big wave of the heartland effect.
The crowd during the gig was in a mood you rarely see them, the first rows anyway.
I do want to say there ware a few people deeply missed, but we are going to fix that in the near future. Very Happy

Top day, nite and morning out. Went to bed around 1 pm and got up at 4 pm. I am gonna be too tired tomorrow at work.....but all worth it! Very Happy

I tried myself, but most pictures I took are so smoke filled that I can't get anything out of them Sad I poster the ones that ware best)

best is to upload them to youtube.
that works quite well but you might have to transfer the file before you can.

can't upload mine to youtube.. too big, file size exeeds limmits...
i can upload the .3gp files from my cellphone and link the prog used to convert if you like...
just try youtube, Tidal.. you never know...

Well it was the only gig of the 3 this year that I got to see, and thankfully it sounds like it was the best We are not worthy! Very Happy We are not worthy! It was a bit of a slowburner to start but it picked up bigtime and I was more than satisfied by the end, as was my partner who isn't even a Sisters fan! We made it to the front, but only just - the crowd was packed llke sardines and pretty rough. So much for the laid-back Belgian crowd I was told to expect!
I presume Eldritch's hospital remark was because of the substantial presence of micro-whitecoat-wearing female first aiders. I've never seen so many guys queueing up for first aid before Laughing Great to see so many familiar faces and to meet some new ones on what turned out to be a very nice summer's day

Sorry, for that's as far as my back-up goes, guys. Let me know if I've missed out on any clickies or so. Won't keep it forever
