Heh....just want to resurrected this topic....about my fav song.....

scroll down...yeah,i know...it's really trivia thing....but i've always been
suspected this lady gave an inspiration to Von to make this
song...if it was really about 100% of his dismissed love affair....(with that Claire..)

In a Spanish radio interview last week, the DJ asked Eldritch what his five favourite records were. After hearing just three the DJ gave up. "The first was Elgar's Cello Concerto. vicious pink is probably the worst I've ever heard.
even though the-piece-of-junk like songs, that lady's voice have some point.very sensual,husky....kinda sexy.
Well ,Eldritch definetely mad about her at that times. that voice and ...

maybe he loved more her luscious looks than the voice.

but i'd rather recommend the original version of Je T'aime......(by Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin)

I sellected that quote in classic After the Flood article.
If he preffered original,he might had a excellant taste.but he had a tendency to hating- all related to french.. wasn't he?

Maybe he thought the truth that Gainsbourg & Birkin are not real french.

Rosetta Stone already did it, and seeing as their cover of When the Levee Breaks stopped Von from covering it I on't see him doing Venus In Furs either.

Rosetta's cover of "Venus" was appalling. Knocked together in 2 minutes by a cynical solo artist after the rest of his band had deserted him, for an even more cynical darkling "tribute" album.

Levee wasn't too bad though.

You would have thought Andy Warhol would have loved it. I bet Page and Plant do, too. Not the track, the being covered. By anyone. For Warhol, the worse the cover, the bigger the compliment, I would have thought.

I actually quite like it. Okay, he does warble, but there was a time in the early 1990s when he was murdering quite a few covers, and in that context Jolene stands out as one of the better ones, I thought. I like the sexual politics too. But okay, I wouldn't put it in their top five covers.

Having said that, I'd better back it up - my favourites today are:
Gimme Shelter,
Knocking on Heavens Door,
Comfortably Numb,
Gimme Gimme Gimme,
and Ghostrider.
