T'Mish - The End Is Nigh

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

m*****n statement from That Guitarist

I know I promised you a statement about my, and the band's, future a
little while ago but I've had to deliberate long and hard about this so
I've taken my time as this hasn't come as an easy decision for me to
make.

I love this band and have spent the best part of my adulthood dedicated
to the cause. However, I do think it's time for me to try something
else.

I've decided that the February London Shepherds Bush shows will be the
last m*****n shows. The reasons are myriad and involved and I certainly
wouldn't want to bore you with all the details.
However, I do think I owe you at least some explanation.

Firstly, I want to say that in GIAB I think we made an album that
stands more than favourably alongside anything we/I have ever released
as The m*****n. GIAB is a great way to bow out. I mean, I have made
some crap albums and it would've been sad to have finished with one of
them. But with GIAB we go out with our heads held high and secure in
the knowledge that our final album is a real goodie.

And that also brings me to the idea that the Shepherds Bush shows be
the last ones.....That is another great way to end. I wanted the band
to finish on a high and what better way to finish than by playing these
4 London shows celebrating the history of The m*****n.

This is an opportunity for us to play for you, you who have been so
loyal and supportive to both myself and the band over the years, and to
be able to say goodbye in an appropriate setting and manner. It will be
emotional, I'm sure, for me as well as for you.

Life after Shepherds Bush? I'm not sure yet but I have been working
pretty much non-stop on m*****n related projects for the last 4 years
and more to the detriment of my desire to work on other projects and
collaborations. I would really like to be able to go into my studio to
write and make new music without thinking 'How can I make this work for
The m*****n?'

I shall greatly miss The m*****n, Mark, Rich, and Springy, but I just
feel it's time for me to try something new. I'm not gonna say I'll
never come back to The m*****n because, as you know, this has happened
before back in the mid 90's and I may well want a return to doing this
again after a sabbatical. Who knows? I certainly don't at this point.
Anyway, I'd just like to finish by thanking you for your support over
the last 22 years that The m*****n has been in existence and I hope to
be able to say goodbye to you all in person at the Shepherds Bush shows
next February. Hopefully see you there for one last big ol' knees-up.

Cheers,
Wayne

Hardly a surprise, really... :|

"I have made some crap albums"..
That kind of honesty doesn't miss my sympathy!
Well, The m*****n is dead. Relatively dead. For a while now, possibly.

Looking forward to the London gigs even more now (but just the first 2, wouldn't want to see the last 2 :innocent: )

He'll be back; the lad is like a bad smell - he just won't go away...

Good luck to The Husster in whatever he does. I for one have some very fond memories of T'Mish, in their various incarnations :notworthy:

Aye, me too. 8)

A Sisters forum is probably the last place Huss'd expect anyone to be expressing anything positive about him, but still. One of the more technically accomplished Sisters guitarists over the years. ;)

I'll stand back this time and just say:

"He is Wayne....he was their new guitarist."

I thank him for that.

I have all four tickets in the box by my bed. I'll be bringing some records to get signed (hopefully)

I intend to make it an excellent night. Too many bands won;t ever give me a chance to really get down and dirty with them like this, and I intend to make the most of it.

For me, I know its going to be a week to remember.

Well,

I still think he's a nice guy. Gave me a beer and a cigarette once after a Mish concert. And he stayed polite while I was being really obnoxious by
constantly asking him questions about The Sisters. I don't like the Mish's new Album because it's not my taste but Wayne sure knows how to write a song and record it properly.

There was a point, many years ago, that I'd have been gutted at this but I've realised that I'm not that bothered here and now. Sad really, but there you go. As albums came and went I've tuned-out somewhat each time until now I've all but had them in my mind as finished anyway.

It's generally only in my most dodgy, "Yes, I will dig out that old patchouli-smelling crushed velvet skirt today" moments where I decide to put on a Mish record, but I do have them occasionally
They're by no means one of my favourites but I must say that compared to all the ridiculous smoke and mirrors BS that surrounds the Sisters and their acolytes, Wayne's attitude has long been a breath of fresh air, a pin to prick that world. That would be missed... but then I doubt he will really "retire" as others have said, he'll keep wafting back as persistently as the smell of that goddamn patchouli

Anyone responsible for the immortal first line of Love Me To Death seriously deserves respect IMHO   :notworthy:

I for One wish him all the very best, Wayne takes some unfair criticism on here, I've never been to a bad Mish gig and I've seen the a Dozen or so times, can't say that about The Sisters. I still love the Gods Own Medicine/First Chapter/Children period & listen to them a lot, he's Gigged, released records and stuck to his guns for 20 years............well done that Man :notworthy: 8) :notworthy:

Well the m*****n certainly haven't given me the same level of high that the Sisters have done (and continue to do) but I was a fan for a few years and I'm looking forward to all the London shows. I don't understand the need for people to bitch about Wayne (or Eldritch come to that) and I wish him well in whatever he does post-Mish. While I wouldn't call myself a fan these days, I still have a soft spot for their early stuff - as long as I don't pay too much attention to the lyrics  :innocent:

:D Interesting!
As I've never seen The MISSI0N before, it's about time to try and catch 'm live on a stage somewhere. The London gigs look most promising, but that'll be out of my reach I'm afraid... Utrecht or Koln on the other hand are slightly closer to home. Hmm, anyone else going? Christophe? Liesbeth? Ozpat ?

I disagree, Pat. It was one of thew best open air m*****n shows I witnessed. I listen to the recording of that night quite often.

I will definately miss them and I'm thinking of going to those 4 nights. Yes, for sentimental reasons and just because I like their music.

And no, I'm not gonna cry ...
