Just thought I would add some comments here. Although I haven't spoken to Oscars dad/mom directly, I can only assume these items are genuine. I will endevour to check and have a look.
If anybody bothers to check Oscars web site, they will see that it is a genuine charity (I should know as I have raised funds myself), with many fund raising events arranged by various members of local bands (Wonder Stuff, PWEI, Vile Evils etc). Oscars dad should (and does!) know these people by the fact that he used to be in the pre PWEI/Wonderstuff band From Eden. A recent event was a show put on by the Vile Evils (ex PWEI), which should have been a PWEI reunion show (albeit low key), which was thwarted by Clint not being able to get a visa in time.
Just thought I would let you know

Have already had a look at the website and I think nobody doubts the charity it is the items source that are somewhat questionable. Mrs Vanian had a very bitter split from the SISTERS involving court case(s) etc. but she kept in storage for nearly 20 years the clothes worn by AE? very strange, good luck with the charity sale. Lastly why does Clint need a visa to come to the UK ( I know he lives in the USA) but he was born in the UK and as such assume he holds a UK passport ?

Thanks for clearing this up, Floored1!FLOORED1 wrote:Not sure of the exact reasons why Clint didn't make the show in time, but it was something along those lines, and I seem to recall it involved a visa.
As for the clothes, I will do some more research
Always nice to know we're actually supporting the good cause here. Too many sharks on eBay as it is.
Best of luck to the bidders, and of course to Oscar!

Well the 'cha' boy is wearing the same colour as 's?
I still remember reading the article about filming the video in Smash Hits, , Patsy and the film crew were all flown in on a Russian Hind Helicopter Gunship as at that time the nearest warzone was only a 6hr Tank drive away. WEA touted it (at the time) as the most expensive Video they'd made and intended it to be the best video ever made too! (They got my vote for that one! )

MH is correct in saying that Jordians typically wear red and white scarves - it's a tribal thing. However, given that Palestinians have a lot of support in Jordan, there are a large number of Palestinian refugees living there, and HRH King Abdullah is married to a Palestinian bird (who is super-saucy and apparently super-nice to boot), it is not uncommon to see the black-and-white being worn in the Kingdom.
If you're in the market for a scarf, take a good look at the quality - the really good ones are all wool and woven, the cheap and nasty ones are screen printed. You also want to make sure that the tassles are present and correct - the cheap knock-offs often don't have them, but the genuine article always does.
To 's question - no, he looks nothing like a head waiter. Although I want his swordstick if FatPat's got it "in storage".

Aye, that were the point I was gonna make as Jordan was a supporter of Saddam (who was known for his support for the Palestinian's against Israel) until they fell out in the late 90's, but I felt that would turn this thread into a Political debate, and Heartland being Heartland we'd end up off topic (yet again! ).EvilBastard wrote:Don't want to split hairs, but I will anywayBig Si wrote:Well the 'cha' boy is wearing the same colour as 's?mh wrote: Bloody hell, I would have brought you back 20 from the real place itself. Anyhow, the Swordstick was rented for the Video so didn't get a name, but Stanley the Stick (from 'This Corrosion') is probably still in Patsy's wardrobe, or propping up 's umbrella stand in Leeds-Bradford

Guess i'm luckier than most as my built is almost exactly like Eldo's, so the suit would be a perfect fitBig Si wrote:

mh: Brought such scarfs from where?? Surely they didn't sell those at RAH concert Actually i don't like the colour at all but if Eldo could wear it, then so could i!
At any rate the scarf will sky-rocket it seems.

The suit? Whoops
I also asked about the suit and it is, unsurprisingly, small.

Re. black and white shemagh. If memory serves, the Arabs in the Dominion video are Bedouin. If they're wearing black and white, they'll be from the Negev. Given that the video was shot at Petra, which is in Jordan, one wonders if the choice to hire Negev Bedu, rather than Jordanian Bedu was a deliberate choice by Andrew? Particularly given his comments about how he wanted the video for This Corrosion to be.
I'm interested in the two t-shirts as I doubt any thing else will fit (I'm roughly the same height as Andrew, but a tad stockier) and I've already got a black and white shemagh. Although, those leather gloves are rather tempting too...
Anyway, it's all in a good cause and for Pat for offering up these items.
But it does make one wonder why she kept them...

I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.

It must be pretty surreal to be Eldritch in this case. He probably swings by here every now and again to see if the chickens are restless, except this time, he finds that some of his old clothes are being sold on ebay.
That's pretty damn weird.
I think it's cool that Patricia is supporting a good cause - and this certainly seems like a good cause - but does nobody else think this is slightly odd?
I have difficulty imagining how these items changed hands. I'm not implying there's anything underhand involved - it's just odd. Were these clothes left in her house, swiped from a wardrobe or given as payment (!) at some point? Bizarre!

Do I drive or am I driven?
Setlement as part of the agreement after she took him to court. That's my theory. Either "I can give you any money but here's a load of me old clothes" or "Christ, do you want the shirt off me back too?". All under legal wraps, of course, so neither party can confirm or deny.

I'm just surprised they are all in one piece.

It seems like a good cause, and I think it's a nice thing that FatPat's getting involved and trying to help. I don't know that a COA from her that "this really really belonged to The Gnome of Darkness" is going to carry much weight, though. Based on the information on the auction it's a bit hard to tell exactly what the provenance of these things are. "Worn during the Sisters most popular period" is less useful than "This suit was worn during the filming of the Dominion video in Petra, and still has the sand stains on the bum." The value would be enhanced if you were able to tie the item to a specific identifiable event or location. The fact that this information isn't available makes me wonder if this is really kosher gear or whether its stuff that looks similar to the genuine article and they reckon they can get a bit of brass for it. The shirt in particular strikes me as not being on the level. I don't remeber seeing in a shirt like that (although my TSOM knowledge is not encyclopaedic and I am more than happy to be proved wrong) - it looks more like something that Jim Morrison would wear.
All that being said - the cause for which the items are being sold seems a worthy one (although I hate children)...

Why don't we all start having a good old chortle at people with Downs?
Or what about having a giggle at the blind or the deaf? Oh and Leuckemia is always worth a titter.
How the f**k would you people feel if you were the father of the little lad and he came on here to check the interest in the auction and saw some of the comments you people have made.
You have disappointed me Heartland. Badly.
