Also, South Africa is a prime place to solve domestic electricity problems via microgeneration from solar PV and solar HW. The necessary investment could've been reached if it wasn't for the spending on weapons and a hugely corrupt government.
Not to mention the capacity for wind (onshore and offshore), and wave/tidal, South Africa could be exporting electricity to her neighbours.
I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.

So it's been a case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer...
No wonder the crime rate is so high, there's still poverty and the rich folk all drive around in expensive cars with weapons on them at all times!
South Africa is not the only country that deals in weapons though, yeah they are made, sold, used by all in S.A. but most are for export.
South Africa and Africa is the richest continent in the world when you just look at the resources found there, natural resources but kept poor by the rest of the world if you want to look at it that way!

Does this mean that someone walking down the street in full Waffen-SS regalia should be treated with respect? A little respect for the army wouldn't hurt - they're doing a job that most of us wouldn't want, and if we want to change what they do then we need to change the government - but an "enforced" respect is never going to work, and this turncoat Labour MP is typical of his ilk in thinking that you can legislate peoples' thoughts.
