It's damn near perfect.
Even when the last track has faded out you still want more which is always the sign of a good album. How many of us here have bought albums over the years and been bored by the time it reaches the 4th or 5th song?

In the case of Death Magnetic, I went deaf after the 4th or 5th songGimme_The_Ring wrote:It's damn near perfect.

Floodland? A fine album. Not one to skip from one track to another - must be played all the way through or not at all.

It's been a week since I started this topic and here I am again (under the influence of two pints of Strongbow) and Flood 2 is playing - damn this song is fantastic!!!!
I'm bobbing my head like a mad man to it.

Maybe you should try Adam's Apple instead then. It's smoother.Gimme_The_Ring wrote:under the influence of two pints of Strongbow

I tried Diamond White once, nasty stuff.
I made my own 'edit' of Floodland ... I removed the original versions of 'Lucretia...' and 'This corrosion' and replaced them with the long versions from the CD singles, removed both 'Torch' and 'Colours' because I don't think they fit.
And when I acquired the full length version of 'Neverland', I modified my edit to include that too.
Oh, and I put a bit of 'Sandstorm' on at the start too, like in the 'Dominion' video.
So there you go...

I think my Sisters "best of" tape opens with Sandstorm/Dominion.
I'm not so sure about Colours not fitting. It's essentially a demo of Flood I isn't it?

Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

I love 1959, it's almost like it's the big build up to the epic This Corrosion.

Usually records i listen to don't have "duff" tracks on them. Floodland is no exception.
Artistically it's very very high in a very very long list. (Which is to be understood poetically, since i don't like thinking hierarchically).

Um.. videos don't necessarily indicate what the actual instruments are.Nic wrote:Yes I know, so it's gotta be a real piano on the track too.lachert wrote:on video it was, even a grand pianoNic wrote: I always though it was a piano?
In before anyone says "Yes, Patricia's playing in the videos"
In fairness, not even Eldritch is doing much of anything on the live Lucretia oneDark wrote:In before anyone says "Yes, Patricia's playing in the videos"
Poor bastard deserved a rest after recording the album all on his lonesome

I would've liked to see Patricia playing dead over a Yamaha synthesizer instead.

This is interesting. I always found the keyboard sounds so cheap. It's almost like the midi files you hear when entering a Chinese restaurant homepage with Comic Sans Fonts saying HAPPY CHRISTMAS 2005 with santa animations.Nic wrote:Duh!Dark wrote:Um.. videos don't necessarily indicate what the actual instruments are.Nic wrote: Yes I know, so it's gotta be a real piano on the track too.
