Female vocalists

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Looks I opened a can of worms here.
Sorry :urff:
Didn't :von: mention Dolly Parton and Stevie Nicks years ago?
Oh yeah..how did I miss Cristina Scabbia(Lacuna Coil)?
According to her MySpace..she's a fan.
Toni Halliday is still my fave pick, as her vocal style feels "simpatico" to :von:

Every boot I've heard with a female singer with AE is just bilge.

However, done right I think it sounds beautiful. Definitely a knife-edge decision.

Completely off-topic, of course, but... because of your avatar, Dr. G when I read your posts I imagine them being shouted at me by some sort of raving, twitching, hi-octane madman. Kudos ;)

Thanks guys... let's hear it for goofy self-portraits as avatars!

Anyway.... about Tori Amos. I remember back in the early 90s a goff magazine
did a question/answer thing with many alt-rock artists.

:von: was included of course and when asked his favorite old band/artist...
well, you know his reply... The Sisters Of Mercy (of course).
Yes... I recall "(of course)" or something being written there...
whether it was :von: or the interviewer I do not know...
and his favorite new band/artist was Tori Amos.

This was soon after she had released Little Earthquakes.

There may actually be a scan of that magazine somewhere here at Heartland.
Anybody else remember seeing this?

I think this magazine also referred to the Sisters as "the goth-rock supertanker"
which I still find amusing to this day!

Siobhan Fahey aka Shakespears Sister. Stay still resonates with me today... I'd really like to see her work with Eldritch.
