f**k me !
As a tribute to Ron fukcing Asheton, I'm gonna play the first three Stooges album in a row (sorry Ron, but I didn't even buy The Weirdness). He probably wouldn't have liked my playing Raw Power, but what the hell.

It seems he actually died several days ago, but it was only just found out today: http://www.nme.com/news/the-stooges/41900Nixon wrote:Bad news. Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton apparently suffered a heart attack and died at his home today. He will be missed
I still remember seeing The Stooges for the first time, opening for Alice Cooper - that was a mind-altering experience, I have to say. (I'm also dating myself rather badly, I'm afraid... )
Bye Ron...you'll certainly be missed by me

Absolutely gutted.
I feel honoured to have seen Ron play with the Stooges numerous times.
I even named my studio after one of his albums.
Here's a shot I took of him and his brother in 2004

We got a request at Cubes last night for "Anything by Iggy, or The Stooges, their guitarist died today!"
It was a shame, as I'd played "Lust For Life" right at the start of the night, before most people showed up.
