Live your life in a parallax
Live your life through a lens
Live your life in a Range Rover
Or a Mercedes-Benz
All senses steal away, yeah
Throw a key and call her someday
Come feel the arms around you
Come feel the arms around
Come feel the arms around you
All there is to feel is fear, come feel
Throw away the underclasses
Throw your love on the lawn
Everybody got locked and loaded
With the hammer drawn
Throw senseless steel away, yeah
Throw a key and call her someday
Come feel the arms around you
Come feel the arms around
Come feel the arms around you
All there is to feel is fear, come feel
Live your life through a lens
Live your life in a Range Rover
Or a Mercedes-Benz

Not a lot, I believe. It resolved that be/feel-second line thing, however. Didn't clear up the frog thing either. Flush? Blush? Bluch? Flausch? Flowersch?euphoria wrote:Don't know if DocSommer's latest video helps?

Why, exactly? Mental images of warlords, weapons dealers, and dictators hiding behind bulletproof glass amidst lawless chaos spring immediately to mind...euphoria wrote:You may be right, but I hope not. Not Eldritch...please.SINsister wrote: Live your life in a Range Rover

isn't it about drugs then?
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

To be fair, I thought it sounded like that too. I just didn't post it because it wasn't clear enough and the other suggestions sounded better. But I wouldn't rule it out.Dr. Moody wrote:Throw your love on the lawn
I'm hoping we haven't yet cos some of it makes absolutely no sense. But it would be quite fun to see mugabe's Arms (Comprehensive) on the lyric sheet of the next album.DocSommer wrote:well, thank you guys for figuring out the lyrics

all the more reason for it to be the definitive interpretation. after all 99% of the lyrics forum is complete drivel (bless it's little heart)SINsister wrote:I don't think that my take's the "be-all and end-all" - it's probably utter bollocks.

There are two more versions of Arms on Dime, from Wiesbaden and Cologne. In the process of trying to upload them somewhere but I have no objection if anyone beats me to it.
I wouldn't say they add much to what we've already got except that the chorus definitely seems to be
Come feel the arms around you
Come feel the arms around
Come feel the arms around you
All there is to feel is fear, come feel
And the second verse at Cologne seems to begin
Throw away the underpasses
Throw your blood on the lawn
We also seem to be back to
Live your life in parallax
Live your life in the lens
but both of these last two contradict what can be clearly heard at Dresden.
Frogs not included.

Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.
Agree on the chorus; that's sorted now.
I am now conviced there is no Range Rover in line 3, but
there is "(f)or the Mercedes-Benz" in line 4.
He manages to mumble line 3 on all 4 recordings - is he really waiting for us to complete his lyrics? Oh well.
I'm pretty certain line 3 is, phonetically, Live your life in a [reidsh roe-m-ah], there is an m there and the -ah is sometimes there, but I'm as uncertain as before about what the heck he is singing there.
So, that was speculation on the first verse. More later...or not.
