Reptile House EP label misprint - any ideas?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. Hi all -
I've got two copies of the Reptile House EP:

Copy 1) has the violet image and lettering on the burgundy background and "made in england" on the spine and ....23 on the label with correct title listings.

Copy 2) has the pink image and lettering on the black background and NO "made in england" on the spine, BUT it has the ...21 release (Alice) on the label, both sides.

I've tried to find details in the Forum and haven't found any. Is this rare or a common MR pressing issue? I assume they're two different pressings, but I was just wondering if others have come across this?

Thanks!

There are two known pressings but the only difference is in the sleeves; the vinyl and labels are identical.

The sleeve differences are pretty much as you describe but the colour alterations are not so much deliberate differences as bad printing. The first pressing (your copy 2) is darker while the second (your copy 1) just isn't printed as well so that the black comes out sort of washed out with a reddish tinge bleeding through (black inks and paints are actually made up of other colours) and the pink/purple is lighter.

The only genuine differences are in the spines as you mention. The first pressing has a thicker spine and the catalogue number while the second has "made in england". The first pressing also came with a lyric sheet.

I've double checked and both my copies have nodifferences in the vinyl or labels. It's possible that one of mine has the vinyl from one pressing put into the sleeve of the other but going by the mistake in catalogue number I'd say it's more likely that your copy 1 is a bootleg.

Does anyone else have both to confirm with?
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

Probably just a mispressing. My copy of Alice has the Temple Of Love labels.

My copy of Alice has Alice labels - way things are going this might be a rarity! ;D
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
