Cheers for finding time for the Russian reviews Simon :notworthy: I'll just have to keep telling myself it can't have been as exciting as my meeting at work today

pity that we haven't met
i was going, but forgot to leave my number here)
well, holding lighters during a ballad is one of traditional entertainments in Evil Empire
it means: "We have a gas; do you?" :von:
as for me, the previous Moscow gig seemed louder than this one - probably because of a different mix, with loud drums then
and i liked current more: better sound (or mix), better setlist, more 'drive'
regarding sound, it sucked both times, because the hall's walls are just a hard surface with no puffy isolation put, so there is a zillion of extra reflections
and the last: i've taped it
literally
it happened so that i couldn't take the digital recorder, so i've found the old tape one
tested it at home, everything worked, but in the club REC button couldn't get 'drowned' until FFW, REW and REC were pushed simultaneously (one girl helped me)
actually i didn't get it first how to fix it, so few song begginings were cut when i've changed sides
i've missed: Afterhours (intro), Crash and Burn, Ribbons
i need few days for ripping the cassettes properly and mastering them

by the way, is Eldo about 180 cm high?

I have been near enough to Chris (on the same floor, that is, not with him on a stage) to determine that he's rather taller than I am (at 5'6"), and Von's rather shorter than Chris, sooooo...

(Couldn't locate anything similar with Ben, but...)

Draw your own conclusions. As for me, I'm calling it a good fit...

http://www.celebheights.com/s/Andrew-Eldritch-278.html
Andrew Eldritch's height is 5 ft 9 in (175 cm)
UK Singer from The Sisters of Mercy. In a 1992 interview he said, "I'm obviously shorter than [fans] think I am. I'm five foot nine"

btw
http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0969074/

why am i asking?
we've been waiting for the band near the staff entrance late after the gig
Ben and Chris came in a hurry, signing this and that (Ben also spent some time inside with fans)
the van was few metres in front of the door
later Eldritch came, acted nervous: tried to run or get somewhere, like a caught hare, some girls cried "pleasepleaseplease" ('sign it'), and he finally stepped back into the door
later more technicians came, walked here and there and the van drived away
about 10 people stayed waiting for Eldo, reducing to 4 and at 0:45 we went away with no result
i think one of those 'technicians' was him with no glasses, of the same height as me or a bit higher - i am 175
he walked around the van smiling... and his naked face! OMFG he looked at me!
i see no other way for him to get inside except total annihilation
actually i thought this way from the very start, but other people confused me, so i stayed

Good show, a big difference from 2006 though.. Andrew, thanks a million for good night, please come back to Moscow in May to celebrate your birthday and to take part in Eurovision song contest! I am sure you could win a golden medal to UK!! (Well, Amy Winehouse also could win, I suppose, if she dared to take part) ;D

Certainly not as that is exactly my height and he is smaller (he walked just past me in Brussels). I would estimate around 168 cm - 170 cm.

Thanks for the reviews!

Hey. Phil is here. I'm looking through this forum from time to time. It's great and respect to you all.

Yesterday's Moscow gig was a source of a lot of positive emotions for me:
Lights was great
Smoke was great
Sound was really good if to compare it with other videos from the recent tour which I saw at youtube, here etc...
There were some funny moments at the gig such as flying cap or a kind of t-shirt to the scene and Eldritch's reaction after that...

To conclude this brief review I'd like to share the following links with fragments of yesterday's show. I did the record via Nokia N95 8 gb. I understand that it's not good and my hands were sometimes trembling - but maybe you''d be interested anyway. I've recorded about 80% of the show. Enjoy!

p.s If I had to put this to sharing section - then sorry. I think the quality of this material is not so well and I'm not sure that it is suppose to be there:)

He's nowhere near 5'9" - I know this because he walked right past me, less than 6 inches from where I stood, on a frigid March night in Boston back in 1991... :von:
