stupid, stupid policy someone should be hang for this many people i know said that this is their end of sisters adventure and they stops care about such lame band

I love quotes like this, here is a band where the singer is nearly fifty, they haven't released a new song for longer than they were releasing songs, and even when they where releasing songs they didn't actually release that many. And one poor show and fans are willing to through in the towel!

I for one, long ago realised that when you've been following a band for 22 years, there is little they can do to really put me off. I'll be here for life, and even if the sound in London this evening is a bit crap, I know that I'll be down the front having a laugh.

TBH I never thought I'd still have the opportunity to see the Sisters live in 2009, I just hope that I can still pop along and catch a Sisters show when I turn fifty (which isn't until 2023)

i'm not worry about myself. i'll go to see sisters if they'll play in neighbourhood just pity about all that people who seen them for the first time. they didn't come back.

I don't know about "not sold out" -- you couldn't fricking move where we were (about level with Maisey, quiffy, etc. but over to the side stage left (Ben's side)).

And yeah, OK, too many goffs-with-attitude but great gig.

And I bumped into John Robb at the merchandising stall when I bought my T-shirt -- after slagging him off all night, he was a top bloke.

thats a better review!! glad all those who enjoyed - all those who didn't shut up - at least you got to go!! sometimes the sound of gigs isn't up to an individuals personal taste but hey - surely its the whole thing - not just the sound!?

Ok. 1st visit to Sisters mecca Leeds, 5th concert on this tour and the 20th in total.

Leeds - an ok city, but not really pub-crawl inviting like Brussels.

Crowd: Naturally when you see a band where it all began, you will have a slightly higher average age and this also applied to Leeds. Not many young people at this concert, and also slightly above average was the number of goths. The moshpit started at once and was very wild.

The support band were probably some friends of Chris - a local punk rock-something band that showed nothing was wrong with the sound system.

I got a bit scared when the Afterhours intro started, even lower volume than in Stockholm. C&B got a bit louder, but it was still perfectly possible to have a conversation in the 5th row in front of Ben/Andrew.

The sound and mood and groove of the concert didn't really kick in until Giving Ground imo, even if the moshpit was into it from the first riff of C&B.

Interestingly, not even the wild moshpit did any serious cheering to bring the band back on stage after the main set, and I found the situation a bit embarassing - would they still have come back on stage if we all had walked out?

Romeo Down totally useless as an encore, and should be kicked out of the setlist for good.
Ben and Chris played tthe first encore Romeo Down/Vision Thing in sleeveless People's republic of Yorkshire shirts, and Andrew wore some yellow football shirt (what team?)

No special comments from Andrew, 3 short oneliners I think, and none of them mentioned Leeds (I think).

It was an ok concert, a bit, but not much, below average maybe. The band did not seem very into it but the crowd in itself partly made up for it.

Summary for the future:

-Belgium is the real home arena of this band, go see them there instead

- The volume MUST be turned up in some way - the don't have to sound like that ear-trashing support band, but they have now streched it too far with this "lower the volume so we can hear the singing".

Top Nite Out!!

I had a great time. It was my second Sisters gig (after the dire performance at the Astoira on the Silver Bullet tour) and I came in not knowing what I was gonna get. As it happens the show was ROCKING! The setlist was miles better than last time, the sound was FINE. I could hear Eldo clearly, and sometimes it doesn't HAVE to rip your ears to shreds, I wasn't struggling to hear anything.

A gig full of highlights - I was in the front 2 rows for some of it, and dropped back for a bit as well (some of you may have spotted me during Flood 1 and 2 ). Eldritch was on good form and much more charismatic than last time. During our tower for Flood 1 the security staff started kicking up a fuss and Eldo himself hopped off the stage for a quiet word - they left us alone after that!

The support band, Goldblade, were brilliant. Not the kind of act I'd track down on record (think energetic Misits/Cramps style punk) but absolutely brilliant fun to watch live - you could sing along after hearing the first chorus, and the singer spent most of his time in the front rows which was pretty cool as well.

Looking forward to London tonight!

I quite like the lower volume -- doesn't have to be earbleedingly loud. We could still hardly hear Vons vocals even with that level of sound.

I did enjoy it, but 'pale imitation' doesn't even come close to describing the experience. I like what Chris brings to the band -- his enthusiasm really comes across (though you can tell he learned all his moves from the Wildhearts) but Ben is a non-entity. When they're both singing backing vox it sounds a bit like Busted covering the Sisters with one of their grandads wandering on and screaming over the top for a bit.

That may a little harsh.

The gf very kindly said it was 'quite good' and she picked out the older songs as being better as they 'sounded different'.

As far as walking out though... it did get a lot better. And top nite out was fantastic. All Chris again there though. He's come a long way from the greasy haired metaller in the denim jacket we used to play gigs with in '02.

Well, there are people who absolutely love it and who were extremely glad to see it back in the setlist, and who would never think of it as "useless", so why the "should".
Great read, all those good and bad reviews.
One thing just occurred to me: when you use assessing words like "awful", "murdered", "should", "shouldn't", "must", "mustn't", I wonder whether you are aware of the fact that it's just your personal opinion which most probably cannot influence anything it the band's future?

As far as I'm concerned, last night we saw The Sisters at the top of their game, and they fanbloodytastic.

Great night all round.

It's now 26 years since I first saw The Sisters and in that time I've seen them 25 times. Nothing beats the 83-85 gigs for me because they matched and represented my lifestyle and mentality at the time. The gigs came thick and fast, and so was I.

The live shows have evolved in the years since, some outstandingly good (eg 10th Anniversary show in 91), some just fine (many) and some awful (Leeds Uni 06 anyone?). That's what happens with a band who've been around for so long, had so many line-up changes, and have inevitably played around with different arrangements of well-loved songs.

Last night we were never going to get the same that we'd had before, so going along with preconceptions about what everything would sound like is flawed to start with. Talking about feeling let down or disappointed is, presumably, more to do with people's expectation than anything else. This is perhaps what is causing such a polarisation of opinion above. Myself, like quite a lot of earlier posters, I went along looking for a good time and found it because of many reasons, not least that I was prepared for things to be different. It was my 14 year-old daughter's first Sisters gig and she had no preconceptions at all- in fact, though she knows a few of the songs, there were many more in last night's setlist which she didn't know- but she loved it to bits.

Goldblade were hilarious, and it was great to see John Robb still kickin' it in his own way. For once, the support weren't just making up the numbers.

The Sisters set developed nicely. I agree that the first third or so was a bit pedestrian from time to time. And yes, the age profile of a Sisters audience does mean that most of us stand and watch, because we've busted our knees too many times by now and yes, we'd like to be able to walk properly again before the weekend. The gig got better and better as it went on, with the smiles and the thumbs-up spreading around the audience.

The after-show was a laugh- the best school disco I've been to for a long while, with crowd-pleasers aplenty. It was great to see loads of people back for one more time- Emily and Mr. Strange, Edski and the Mrs., Diana and Richey, Andrew S, Motz, Ness, Francis, Quiffy, Doctoravalanche, Tim and Boudicca, to name a few.

And, to cap it off, we met Mr. Catalyst outside and had a few words with Von, albeit via the outside balcony.

And I'll do it again whenever the next time happens to be.
