Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. As a possible source of light relief, who do YOU think 'Buggered Up Britain'?

Yes, I confess that I shamelessly stole this idea from my current read of the very same title, but it sort of inspired me to post this ...

My own choice, without a second thought would be Richard Beeching who wrecked the once proud and pioneering railway system in Blighty forever :cry: & :evil: Think how the country might have been if we still had rural railways, unclogging the roads etc. :roll: etc. Beeching wins (loses?) it for me 'hands down' ...
So, let's hear and see your own figure of hate, pretty please? Oh yes, 'original' ideas of people who are not listed in the book would be even better, and let's not stop at Blighty either, eh? - International ideas are welcome? There are plenty of other sc*m who buggered up other countries too, needless to say ... Now is the time to reveal all?! Let's 'Name & Shame'?!

Pardon to Quiffy for not 'censoring' the 'B'-word, but as it was used in the title of the book, I thought it might be 'allowed' here, eh?!

Anyway, in answer to your question, is it too obvious to say Thatcher? It is, isn't it? Which is as good a reason as any to say it: Thatcher.

Thatcher for her disregard of the livelihoods of others.
Kinnock for being an ineffectual windbag when strength was needed, and a hypocrite to boot (campaigning for EU withdrawal yet now having his whole family feeding at the trough)
Scargill for his ego that he just couldn't quell when needed.
Ted Heath for poisoning relations with Europe for the past near thirty years due to his lying.
Blair for claiming "peace" in Ulster then creating a new batch of home-grown terrorists by his interference in other countries affairs.
Brown/Sir Fred for bankrupting us for generations, and making the legendary financial acumen of Scots seem like rather a bad joke.

Whoops - I'd assumed Reagan was included but this is in fact a glaring oversight - He & The Poisoned B*tch from Hell (Thatch) need their own entire (lengthy) chapters, right at the start of the book ... For 'convenience' (Taxonomy?) the 'chapters' are alphabetical, which I reckon is a mistake - Surely some are much more guilty than others (see above). Those already dead need disinterring, whilst others who are still alive might just get away with being permanently locked into the stocks for us to pelt with whatever takes our fancy, eh?

Whilst I'm in 'Full Flow' these are there as they should be:~

Well, here I would vent at all the people who offered to do work "without a VAT invoice" for many many years, just so we didn't have to pay tax on the job they did & they, in turn, they didn't need to declare it to the government.
Believe you me, they were the first people who went on the rampage when our government imposed tough tax hikes & declaration regulations for self employed citizens after taking the blame for the country's fcuked up economy.
In fact, the government here actually admitted (in a public speech back in 2006 IIRC) that they had been lying to the population about the state of the country's finances.
They took the hit for the people & then the people whinged big time!


You can spot them all too. They tend to have a Hungarian ribbon on the radio antenna of their Toyota Landcruisers/ BMWs/ Bentleys/ Mercedes.... etc.

I suppose Dawkins militant atheism could be called damaging to a country's traditional values, if it's values and laws are based on religious tenets.

As for Thatcherism, well, we had near thirty years of Socialism before that, and the end result was the same. Bankruptcy. What worries me is no-one seems to have a clue what comes next, and insist that the old ideas need a bit of tinkering to work when they are completely wrong.

Can I add Max Clifford to my list? And Piers Morgan.

Oh, alright. If you want a proper answer.

He's encouraged a culture where it's acceptable to call people deluded just because they don't believe the same things as you. Apparently there is only One True Belief and it is His. This is not an age (and nor is any other) in which intolerance can be seen as a good thing.

Having spent four years obtaining a science degree, I became well aware that scientists interpret the evidence just as much as anyone else. It would be fair to call science a belief system too. It's all very well to say that the evidence is there but it's what you choose to believe that the evidence means that's the real point and science has as many respectable opposing beliefs as religion.

Dawkins can believe what he likes. Except that everyone else should believe it too.

I hear this a lot about Dawkins, but I'm not really seeing it. Is it intolerant for an atheist to express his opinion now?

Dawkins does labour his points a little excessively, but what he has to say makes a lot of sense, you know.

Yup. Britain has always been perceived as a tolerant society - even for whackjobs like him. Unfortunately, he's gone over the top with it, making tolerance look like weakness, and lumping rational atheists in with raving loonies. And it hasn't helped with the ant-intellectual sentiment in this country any, although I don't know if that's the case on your side. :(
