Marmiteâ„¢ Movies - Donnie Drecko etc.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Phonebooth
Being John Malkovitch
Moulin Rouge
Total Recall (CGI was in its infancy)
anything by Derek Jarman
Dazed and Confused

over to you...

"I must have some booze. I demand to have some booze"

how can a person deny a fillum with a line like that in it?

further proof:
"We want the finest wines available to humanity. And we want them here, and we want them now"

I really could go on but I'll let fiendy take up the cudgle ;D

I'm probably stepping out of a closet here, but I have to say The Matrix.

Yes yes, I know, the special effects were pretty neat-o (leaving aside the way bullets fired from a handgun were seen to be spinning in a very un-handgun-bullet-like way, but I'm a bit of a nerd like that), but the story, the acting, the plot, and generally pretty much everything was utter utter pish.

Also Closure (aka Straighhtheads) - Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer (him out of Human Traffic), more total and unadulterated pony.

Give My Regards to Broad Street was lifted only by being double-billed with Rupert and the Frog Song - both films complete and utter w@nk, but at least in Rupert you only had to hear Macca's voice rather than seeing his face.

I suspect you have to be American to truly appreciate this flick...

Raging Bullsh*t.

Anything Woody Allen.

Also not too fond of Mafia/gangster movies, but Once Upon A Time In America remains sheer genius. :D
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

The Royal Tennenbaums. Depressing as all hell. Why would someone find that funny? It's just very, very sad.

The first one that comes to mind is Dirty Dancing :urff: All my female friends were aghast that I hadn't seen this "film" So I resolved to watch it and see what all the fuss was about. I wish I hadn't bothered. Utterly dull and Patrick Swayze's face freaks me out. He's just...wrong.

I caused a similar shocked reaction at work today by revealing that I haven't seen a single Rocky film.
Captain Ahab rushed in, his craziness all unzipped......

Let's go for the other side of Marmite too, eh? I'm quite shamelessly fond of Judge Dredd. Utter nonsense and a travestry so far as the source material is concerned, but enjoyable enough hokum all the same.

Waterworld's another I like. (I'm shallow like that - badoom-tssshhhh)

Oooooooohhh yeah - one of my all-time favourites as well. :D

As for rubbish: Branagh's Henry V. I realise I might not have a lot of company in my opinion, but I thought it reeked.

Oh, and... "The man who cried". Hated it. A lot.

I also quite liked the Dredd movie (rumour has it another one is in the pipeline) but the backlash against the film almost put the comic out of business apparently.

I was one of maybe 17 people in the world that saw Ishtar at the cinema. And enjoyed it .

I'll agree that The Matrix was overhyped tosh.

Withnail is a pure piece of cinematic genius, anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. Fact.

Edit: Oh and mrs fiend shares your opinion of Dirty Dancing Honeythorn. Personally, I think Swayze's character was lucky not to be done as a kiddie-fiddler
