That's a shame. I already have the Sisters 7"s and I'm not really arsed about the Violets one, otherwise I might have made you an offer.graeme wrote:It looks like i will have to go on ebay after all now or leave them where they are.

I welcome the new announcement in this section, because it seems to make things clearer.
But still ... if it's just a private person who wants to sell their items, why not welcome them?
On the other hand, then plenty of those private or not so private traders could come here and ask for information
or offer their items ...
HL is not a marketplace, ok. And not an information exchange ... but some of these people do actually own
some Sisters stuff, because they at least once liked The Sisters and wanted to buy their records ...
Anyway, I think this shoud be decided by those who are mostly here in this section ... if you don't want to cope
with those people, then their posts should be deleteded. I can understand you don't want to be molested steadily
with answering the questions of such traders ...
Nevertheless, some might come here and talk a bit about before offering or asking - and never come again after
a month or two ... what's the benefit in that?
IMHO, as long as someone doesn't post large ads with prices for his or her business here, they should rather
be welcomed to inform themselves by reading through the post that already exist. Or they could be referred
to sistersboots' site or Popsike or whatever site, where prices are indicated ...
Links to such sites could be given in the announcement on top of this section ... or there could be an index
to the according threads over here - like in the lyrics section ...

from my experience you need some more information for the insurance company. So you could check ebay regulary about the prices, you should print them an you need another well know collector who can say, that your collection could be worth XXXXXX € or whatever.
At last in Germany it was a hell of an afford to find an insureance company who did that.

Can we have less second-guessing of moderator decisions please?
HL is not a democracy. It is a benevolent dictatorship. The Mod Squad makes the decisions and those decisions are final. Keep pushing us and the word "benevolent" might suddenly no longer apply.

That's surely NOT been my intention. I was only trying to be polite, constructive and helpful ... ...
Never thought of insuring my stuff actually. Now it's included in the normal "furnishing insurance" (or whatever it's called...).
I thinks it's gonna cost more to seperately insure it since it's more about emotional (read: collectors) value than intrinsic value...

Yes, you will need a relatively expensive special insurance, but it might be worth it. I've heard horror stories about people getting approx. €0.2 for each of their ruined records (for some insurance companies old vinyl records apparently are close to worthless).paul wrote:Never thought of insuring my stuff actually. yes, they do. The insurance your complete collection. Doesn´t matter of bootleg, regular, Vinyl or CD.
A regular furnishing insurance is in worst case maybe not enough. Cause the furnish inurance is limited (in Germany) to a special amount you decided and you pay for it.
Just wanted it save, so I decided to do a special insurance for the Vinyls.

Household or Contents Insurance ...paul wrote:Never thought of insuring my stuff actually. Now it's included in the normal "furnishing insurance" (or whatever it's called...).
IMHO, insurance companies see first of all only the intrinsic value of vinyls like the mere material cost ...paul wrote: I thinks it's gonna cost more to seperately insure it since it's more about emotional (read: collectors) value than intrinsic value...
Their extrinsic value is determined by the market. Therefore presenting them with a list of the prices
those records regularly achieve on Ebay might clearly be useful ...
Didn't know that German insurers even demand sort of expertise by a recognized trader ... crazy ... ...

how things work. It's my free choice to walk on in.
But without insulting a person or in this case Mod one should be allowed to give some feedback. What you do with it is your own free Mod choice. I would not call it second guessing or questioning your decisions. As Being645 stated, it is trying to be constructive and helpfull.
