warning before confidence men from E-bay: stayfree79

Have you established a good reputation at HL and got some Sisters stuff to sell or trade with the community? Or are you searching for that elusive ultra rare live bootleg from 1988? Ever had a bad experience with a trader on Ebay? Let us all know here. Outdated threads will be purged over time.

I think the relatively wide availability of bootlegs mean that people if they buy them want a bit of effort put into their manufacture. It's not like back in the day where you were delighted to get a tape of a concert or of some demos because they were nowhere else to be got and so felt precious. Same with the bootleg lps of the 1980/90s. Now as most things are on the internet it's relatively easy to download stuff so the least a bootlegger can do is to make an effort with the production and packaging. Saying that, the deliberate rarification (if such a word can exist!) by certain bootleggers with 20 different 'limited edition' versions of packaging the same thing is equally annoying. It strikes as much of blatant commercialisation as record companies are often accused of.

to make a long story short  :notworthy:
For vinyl, things look slightly different but as to CDs and DVDs ...
IIRC factory pressed CD/DVD stuff aren't that rare - even when it comes to more recent recordings (anno 2000 and newer). There's probably plenty "silverware" offers out there. If someone bought a few silver cd/dvd booties it's not a shame to expect factory pressed material for the next deal again even if it appears retarded for someone who is really in to that stuff.
Now as most things are on the internet it's relatively easy to download stuff so the least a bootlegger can do is to make an effort with the production and packaging.
I think bootlegs are first and foremost collectable items, especially the rare ones. Unfortunately most non-factory pressed media can't guarantee to contain the data integrity over decades - something a collector might expect. And I wouldn't swear that any homemade cd labels and cover sleeve artworks would last longer. But selling something as "SISTERS OF MERCY, LIVE, TV, RARE 2 DVD SET, GOTH, CULT" without mentioning the "homemade" aspects might stoke false expectations.

for a few that is the easy and clever way. I like this.

Yes, I know.....   I am not smart or clever....
And if it is a vinyl, it the wanting and hunting thing.....aaaaaaaaaaah#

But even if it is a CDR, sometimes it is wort the money. :innocent:

Getting a CDR is sometimes, if not statet in the advertisement realy bad.

selling cd-dvdr's are deep s**t, a specially ones with goodies you can easily download from the net and poor graphic
those guys and chicks who sell them should go to hell immediately and ebay should forbid this practics and give permanent ban to sellers
in poland you can't sell cdr's and that's fine.
other way i would buy cdr with all the sisterhood demos from master tape but that's my fetish

Once I tried to sell my old Xbox with had a fancy modchip inside - that was against the selling policy. After my auction got removed the third time (tried to describe the goodie more and more between the lines) I gave it up. I think the ebay watchdogs are nitpicking when it comes to certain stuff and sloppy with other violations.

I also guess that ebay doesn't perform much controls with their own workforce, they probably just mostly reacts to the "reported items" message pool they received from their customers - that must be like having your own Stasi.

Ebay can't possibly monitor anything, how many MILLION items are currently for sale? What they do is respond to complaints.Try and sell a Black metal record from anything from relatively well known bands like Burzum,to proper obscure racist metal from retards, and if you include Germany in the destinations that you post to,it will most likely get removed following a report from someone in Germany complaining about "harmful and racist material"
Of course you can sell horrible pro nazi anti jew s**t metal to the world as long as you specify "I will not ship to Germany"
The system is wrong, but what can you do?

Of course there is no way to check very single auction manually but there are (probably already in use) other ways to recognize potentially violations against their policy. Example: If someone sells anything within the category music/cd/dvd and describe the stuff with words like "cd-r/dvd-r/bootleg..." you can use software to report those kind of items automatically.

Gawd I love it when you're domineering.
