As I mention above somewhere,David Thomas and Co were the support back on the Exxile tour for the twentieth anniversary.I didn't go the York gig,did they play there as well?Hom_Corleone wrote:That's certainly the way I figured it would go.weebleswobble wrote:No 'G" word bands allowed. Arch v was quite taken with the support via Farcebook, I commented it wasnt a good historical representation of 30 years history. Unfortunetly its been deleted.(the thread, not. my comment).
I have nothing against either of the bands (as I don't know either of them) but was expecting a proper celebration of some sort.

Well saidabridged wrote:I guess it's perceptions. always had a different take on what made the band than quite a number of the audience and all of the music press so it's probably natural after 30 years to pay homage so to speak to your influences, Hawkwind, Pere Ubu etc rather than choose contemporaries who were labeled (literally and metaphorically) together with you at a particular time. It's probably what I'd do.
I'd say great support bands and I can only hope they get something as good for the mainland gigs...
... The March Violets would be okay too

By the way. Lee seems to be MIA. He'd be gutted if he missed this.
Anybody got his no.? I don't seem to have it on my new phone.

You're all gonna have to behave on Wednesday night now...Just purchased a tix for the wife, it will be her second evening with the Girls. Her first was 10 years ago at the Astoria, and she...well she didn't think very highly of them back then...

I'll be there the first night also.
As for the support bands, Space Ritual suit me as I understand that they are kinda more Hawkwind than Hawkwind these days.
I was also expecting someone along the lines of The March Violets though. Certainly acts that feature ex/current-members not called Wayne or Craig.
Presumably the choice was inspired by what Eldritch was listening to 30 years ago, with Pere Ubu's gig at the F Club being the best show he ever saw or something, and still unsubstantiated rumours that there were some gigs pre the first "official" show at Vanburgh that featured a version of Silver Machine.
I'm holding out for a couple of guest appearences, though to be honest it would have to be Marx, Hussey or Adams for it to really count, and I can't see that happening.
