The Sisterhood - Gift

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I never, ever post on forums cos I consider myself a bit too old at 40 (odd) but....I assume you are drunk?

Or are you just a bit 'odd'?

The format of a release does not fulfill you?

It's not the format it's just I wish the Sisterhod had been maintained as some kind of side project... of course I am a bit odd as well.

i think i can understand you. gift is my fav sisters album, but i'm affraid that will be hard to get Ray, Vega and specially Morrison together again as Andrew's sidekicks
Von told something that he called Vega for birthday party this year with no response from Alan  other way sisterhood II may become something like ssv project, so better don't touch the legend me think

I know that there will never be another Sisterhood album... but the project got bad reviews when it came out, the remaining CD's are very expensive and I din't think the MP3's are even available on itunes...

No-one seems to remember it very well, which is a deep shame

now i don't think i can understand you
i know about bad reviews, but the music was ahead of those times, so nothing to worry about.
for sure gift should be reissue officially with additional intrumental giving ground and all that Ray/Eldritch this corrosion demos as a bonus tracks on second cd but we talk about Andrew Eldritch, so don't expect such miracles
you can hunt original gift cd for not too big money on ebay with a little patience and on vinyl even cheaper!
and believe me there's a lot of people i know, which remember gift very well, but they don't know who the "floodland" is
and one day, gift fans will rule the world, that's for sure

as a project i also have been a fan of it. loved the merciful release' promotion sheet about the expansion into the giving ground. although the chosen path to legend got some fractions its all still funny. giving ground and rain from heaven are also great live-tracks
love is just a shot away

The Sisterhood - Gift mp3s are available online for those who know where to look...

Don't tell anyone though, it's still under copyright and people could get in trouble for hosting it. :innocent:

I'm aware of this it's just a shame the original isn't offiically available anywhere

I can't even buy a T-shirt with the album cover on it so I guess I'll have to have one made to order. :?

I bought an official "Gift" shirt from the band in Belgium just weeks ago.

'Gift' was a major kick in the trouser to me.
I still don't get it but I'll sell my copy (on pristine vinyl) for a decent price.
I got it on CD about 5 years ago and haven't felt the need to return to it.

I admire Gift ever since, even though I didn't know anything about the background (or cared) at the time.
Its minimal, but with such a grand gesture.

Really? Our tastes overlap a lot, but this comes as surprise, if I'm understanding you correctly. I think it's among the best things AE has ever been involved with.

My CD--along with all of my official, non-single TSOM CD's--was loaned out to a guy who played keyboards for a band I was in about 10 years ago. I'll never see them again. The loss of Gift is the only thing that hurts.

I've the CD and can do the honours if necessary (not for sale though so don't even think about asking  ).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Sadly the vinyl goes for peanuts on ebay,it's the cd that's worth a few quid.
