If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Ok. I thought London... but now South Africa sounds very tempting. Does Ryanair or Easy Jet fly there?
Hmm.. this being removed now?

everyone got really excited about the roundhouse gig when it was on songkick, which i pointed out that *anyone* can edit/add gigs to.
seemed a good idea to point out that it's always wise to wait for some form of official confirmation from promoter/venue/band before people start going crazy and planning flights half way across the world... *
so i just thought i'd add the most unlikely gig scenario i could think of... and obviously a few people did exactly the thing i warned against and didn't even check the small print/who'd added the gig to the site etc...
someone on facebook has even set up an event with DOOR TIMES.. though how they worked that one out, i have no clue! no clue! they've only gone and invited about 200 ppl to the "event".
it was meant to be a minor thing and i expected immediately people would be "oh, ffs, it's not a real gig, can't you see it was added by marge just after she mentioned that anyone can edit songkick?" on here, but it seems that the "news" spread a bit too fast!
apologies to anyone who feels hard done by. no malice was intended! remember, don't believe everything you read on the internet!

*the roundhouse one was put up by eventim and their site lists it too. so at least there's more compelling evidence for the london gig happening. it DOES help to read the small print. it really does.

Well, it's things like this that makes songkick and last.fm as a non reliable source of information. Until now, every gig listed at these sites have been for real and later confirmed by the band(s).
And now you spoil it? Thanks for that.

the interesting part - as a slight digression - is that people always *want* to believe what they read, when it suits them.Drenchrom wrote:You missed April 1st by a few days! Funny though. The power of the internet and people not taking stock of what is written in front of them, i almost believed it until i saw who posted the gig.
Matt
eg: "alcohol is good for you" or "shopping keeps your brain from atrophy" and the internet is excellent at pandering to our sense of self-affirmation by trying to make the world seem more conformative to our own ideas of what should or shouldn't be.
i couldn't obviously really put ulan bator but it got me thinking. far fetched enough for most people to go "no way" or at least check their sources thoroughly, but yet plausable enough for it to be possible if all other factors were excluded - ie "does the band have upcoming gigs?" "do gigs happen in south africa?" and "would the nephs support some dodgy goff band for the s**t n giggles?" and lo!
seems some people are a little bit sensitive though. i apologise again as there was no intention at all for malice, merely a little thought provokation...
